TRENTON, N.J. – A home run and four RBIs off the bat of Dustin Brisson led the Portland Sea Dogs to a 13-3 win over Trenton on Sunday.
Brisson entered the game in the first inning after Portland DH Andy Dominique was hit on the left hand by pitch.
Brisson picked up an RBI on a ground out in the third, blasted a two-run homer in the fifth and added a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Three errors by Trenton in the first gave Portland (2-2) a 2-0 lead. Trenton (2-2) answered in the second inning with Aaron Rifkin’s game-tying two-run homer off Portland starter Greg Montalbano (1-0).
Portland exploded in the fifth with three runs off Thunder starter Javier Ortiz (0-1), including Brisson’s two-run shot. The Sea Dogs piled on three more runs each in the sixth and ninth innings.
Montalbano allowed two runs over five innings to collect the win.
Sea Dogs 11, Thunder 4
TRENTON, N.J. – Justin Headley scored three runs and drove in two more, and three of his teammates chipped in two runs apiece as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Trenton Thunder 11-4 on Saturday.
Starter Josh Stevens (1-0) allowed three runs on three hits in six innings, striking out five.
The Thunder jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning on Bryan Myrow’s three-run homer, his second home run of the year.
But the Sea Dogs chipped away at the lead throughout the game, getting runs from a half-dozen players. Nelson Castro, Justin Sherrod and Dustin Brisson each scored twice, and Tonayne Brown drove in three runs.
Alberto Garza (0-1) allowed four runs, two earned, while pitching 1 1-2 innings in relief.
