Kingdom for Some Cloth
Penobscot Theatre Company-Maine Shakespeare Festival has started the annual A Kingdom for Some Cloth drive. This year, the theater seeks donations of fabric, sewing supplies and related materials. Topping the “most wanted” list are costume jewelry, feathers, ribbon, trim, twill tape, seam tape, hem tape and fabric in pieces of two yards and longer. Especially desirable are pieces of satin, velvet, brocade, damask, rough weaves and fur. Vintage patterns also are sought.
Donations are needed as soon as possible and will be accepted through the first week of June when sewing begins on the costumes. The theater will accept donations noon-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday at the Bangor Opera House, 131 Main St. Donations are tax-deductible.
The 10th annual Maine Shakespeare Festival runs July 5-Aug. 16 and includes productions of Shakespeare’s masterpieces “As You Like It” and “Macbeth,” the musical “The Fantasticks” and the family classic “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll.

Donations to Penquis CAP’s Good Neighbor Fund will be used to help families pay for food, electricity bills, housing and basic necessities.

To donate to the Good Neighbor Fund, make checks or money orders payable to the Good Neighbor Fund and send in care of Penquis CAP, P.O Box 1162, Bangor 04402-1162. Contributions should state that funds are for the families of Georgia-Pacific. For information, call Giosa at 973-3500.
