Fatal vehicle accident reported in Sullivan
SULLIVAN – A 19-year-old Hancock woman was killed Thursday after the car she was driving was struck nearly head-on as it turned onto the Morancy Pond Road from Route 1.
Misty Robbins was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators said she was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.
Robbins was making a left turn onto the Morancy Pond Road about 4:45 p.m. when she was struck by a car traveling west on Route 1 and driven by Kathryn M. Townley, 83, of Glenburn.
Townley was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth before being transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where she was being treated for injuries that included broken legs.
A passenger in Robbins’ car, identified as 15-year-old April Bryant, was also transferred to EMMC where she was being treated for facial injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
