After hearing the recent news about the closure of the Georgia-Pacific tissue mill in Old Town, it reminds me of the way International Paper closed two stud mills in Passadumkeag and Costigan. Both closures were sudden and unexpected, and in both cases corporate greed was involved. These big companies have raped our state of woodlands and left thousands of its citizens jobless.
Georgia-Pacific should run a commercial, as does International Paper, that states, “Caring for the people of Maine.”
