Fourth-inning rally sparks Eagles

BLUE HILL – Nick Henry and Mark Clapp sandwiched two-run singles around an RBI single by Mike Astbury in the five-run fourth inning as the George Stevens baseball team rallied to an 8-5 victory over Bucksport Thursday in high school action.

Adam Cousins had a double and a single for the Eagles and Astbury had a pair of singles. Josh Gott picked up the win with six innings of three-run ball. James Friend pitched the seventh.

Rob Pushard and Marcus Boober had two hits and two RBIs each for the Golden Bucks and Jake Knight had an RBI single.

At Belfast, Marcus Colby doubled and hit two singles to knock in two runs to help Belfast to the win.

John Ellis doubled and singled with an RBI for Belfast and Jesse Johnson hit two singles.

Josh Lake had a double and a single for Maranacook and Mike Buckley hit a pair of singles.

At Ellsworth, Pat Healy banged out three singles and drove in three runs as the Crusaders of Bangor rolled.

Brian Roach and Keith Nason each hit a two-run double for John Bapst. Alex Means added a two-run single.

Nick Putnam led the Eagles with a two-run double in the first inning.

At East Machias, Steve Colbeth struck out 14 and helped himself with three RBIs on a triple, a double and a single as the Raiders topped the Bulldogs

Todd Stevens of Machias struck out 11 in the loss. Joe Richard and Nate Poore each singled twice.

At Corinth, Matt Leino singled to knock in two runs to help the Minutemen to their second win.

Joseph Manzo doubled for Stearns of Millinocket and Matt Wark singled.

Tristan Strout tripled for the Red Devils. Joey Kane hit a double and a single with two RBIs and James Gray knocked in two runs.

At Blue Hill, Nikki Smith allowed only one run and two hits and no walks while striking out nine through five innings before being called for rain to give Bucksport the win.

Ellissa Gorden hit a pair of triples with one RBI for Bucksport. Tara Tweedie hit two singles with a RBI and Ashley McAllian doubled to drive in two.

Liz Tyler doubled and scored for George Stevens Academy and Christy Moon hit an infield single with an RBI.

At Ellsworth, Gwen Wadleigh scattered five hits and struck out five to lead the Crusaders to the win.

John Bapst of Bangor’s Rebecca Stevens singled twice and added an RBI. Wadleigh and Ada Athorp each recorded an RBI single and Jill Mitchell tripled.

Tessa Miller and Emma Rieman each singled twice for the Eagles. Tara Dyer fanned six in the loss.

At East Machias, the Bulldogs used a six-run sixth inning to edge the Raiders.

Lindsay Cherry paced Machias with two singles and two RBIs. Logan Davis hit a double and a single and Ashley Whitman contributed a double.

Adrianne Merritt drove in three runs on two singles for WA. Justine Ramsdell and Rianne Barker each hit two singles and had one RBI.
