Crandall leads Lions past Raiders

SABATTUS – Morgan Crandall tossed a four-hitter, striking out 10 and surrendering only two earned runs as the Belfast Lions held off the Oak Hill Raiders 6-5 in softball action Friday.

Sam Ellis and Danielle Mayer each had two singles with an RBI for Belfast.

Julie Lizotte smacked a triple for Oak Hill to break up Crandall’s no-hit bid.

At Blue Hill, Rachael Wardwell and Laurie Allen combined to no-hit Washington Academy, and Wardwell drove in four runs on two doubles and a single as the Eagles rolled.

Tessa Grindle and Christy Moon each had three RBIs on a double and a single for GSA. Liz Tyler added two doubles.

Sara Livingston scored for Washington Academy on East Machias on a walk, a steal of second base, a Sara Bushforth sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch.

At East Sullivan, TaraLee Webster fanned 13 and walked two while scattering seven hits in a win for the Vikings.

Searsport’s Sheila Wilbur hit an RBI single and Lindsay Seekins singled twice.

Janay Tucker led the Tigers with two singles and two RBIs. Jessie Daley chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

At Harrington, Missy Barbee scored the winning run for Narraguagus on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Elise Dublin hit a trio of singles and had two RBIs for Narraguagus. Kiki Simmons doubled and hit two singles with one RBI and Amanda Fickett hit three singles.

Monique St. Pierre had a double, two singles, and scored four runs for Machias.

At Mount Desert, Nia Megquier pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine to pace the Mount Desert Island Trojans past the Ponies.

Emma Stanley had four singles and a double to pace the MDI attack. Abbie Chapman had four singles; Jaime Daugherty had a triple, double, single, and RBI; and Jennifer Wright had a double, two singles, and one RBI.

Jennie Walker broke up Megquier’s no-hit bid with a single in the fourth.

At Harrington, Joe Leighton hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to end the game and give the win to Narraguagus.

Leighton had a home run and a pair of single with five RBIs for Narraguagus. Cory Worcester gave up only one run on four hits and struck out six through six innings.

Brian Millay singled in Chase Ross to score Machias’ run in the fourth inning.

At Rockland, Wes Drinkwater singled, doubled and knocked in three runs as the Tigers rolled.

Mike Curtis rapped a double and a single and got the win on the mound for Rockland. Adam Ross added a double and Josh Davis two singles.

Joe Clark notched two singles and a double to lead the Eagles of Newcastle. Pat Howell had a single plus a double.

At Pittsfield, Brandon Drapeau’s RBI single in the seventh plated Mike Buckley for the winning run as the Black Bears edged the Huskies.

Buckley reached on a triple, his third hit to go with a double and a single and one RBI. Drapeau also doubled for Maranacook of Readfield. Eben Gilman singled twice.

Andrew Depethune and Jeremy West of Maine Central Institute each hit a double and a single for two RBIs. Jake Lasselle tripled and Ryan Kennedy added two singles and an RBI.

At Waldoboro, Carlos Adolphson rapped a triple to start a two-run fifth inning rally that won the game for the Panthers.

After Adolphson’s triple, Rodney Gunther, who also had a two-run double, walked. Craig Jackson then rapped an RBI single, and Gunther then scored on an error. Adolphson also had two singles.

Pierce Wingman doubled, singled and scored three runs for the Dragons.
