York helps Central Aroostook edge Ashalnd

MARS HILL – Andrew York stole two bases and then scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the Central Aroostook Panthers edge the Ashland Hornets 10-9 in high school baseball action Friday.

York also had two singles and an RBI while Kyle Larrabee pitched the final 6 2/3 innings and allowed only three hits and three walks while striking out 10 to pick up the win. R.K. Nicholson chipped in with a two-run double and a single while Bryan Grew added two singles and two RBIs.

Matt Saucier hit a two-run double and a single for Ashland while Buck Pineau had an RBI single and Brandon Millett helped out with a double.

At Dyer Brook, designated hitter Evan Boutilier singled to left field to send home the winning run for Southern Aroostook in the bottom of the ninth.

Corey Edkins, Adam Anderson and Corey Shields combined for 24 strikeouts for the Warriors. Griffin Hardy hit a single and a double and Mike Lopez chipped in with a double.

Clint Carter had a single and a double for Washburn while Lucas Hafford contributed a double.

At Fort Fairfield, Tyler Bernaiche knocked in the game-winning run on a bunt single in the fifth inning.

Bernaiche scored three times for the Tigers. Mickey Browning had a RBI single and Billy Scull hit a single and scored two runs.

Eric Johnson hit a RBI double for Limestone and Jake Manner doubled.

At Hodgdon, Derek Nickerson pitched a three-hitter, striking out 12 and walking five, as the Hawks beat the Crusaders.

Tyler Schools’ three-run double in the first inning put Hodgdon ahead for good. Matt Hovey doubled and singled, while Nickerson added a double.

Matt Gagnon paced Van Buren with a two-run single. Tyler LaPierre doubled.

At Millinocket, Ryan Bouchard and Ian Johnson combined to allow only one run on one hit and two walks while striking out five to lead Stearns to its seventh win.

Craig Cullen hit a double and two singles with two RBIs for the Minutemen. Matt Wark had three singles and an RBI and Johnson singled twice with a RBI.

Jared Sylvia had Houlton’s hit and Andrew Brown hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.

At Fort Kent, Peter Gerard gave up no earned runs, one hit, and four walks while striking out 13 to lead Madawaska to its second win.

Gerard hit a two-run homer and a single with three RBIs for the Owls. Billy Roy had a two-run homer and a double with three RBIs and Steve Guerrette hit a pair of doubles.

Tom Desjardins singled in the fourth inning for Fort Kent’s only hit.

At Fort Kent, Mindy Morneault hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and added three singles to help Fort Kent.

Ashley Pelletier had a double and two singles with an RBI for the Warriors and Nicole Saucier tripled and singled with two RBIs.

Rosa Londono hit a double and a pair of singles with an RBI for Madawaska and Sarah Nadeau had a single and scored a run.

At Dyer Brook, freshman Chelsea Collier pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight and walking four as the Warriors handled the Beavers.

Carmen McLaughlin paced Southern Aroostook with a triple, two singles and four RBIs. Nicki Lyons (triple, single) and Jordan Sholler (double, single), each knocked in three runs.

At Hodgdon, senior right-hander Shanna McGary fired a five-inning no-hitter to give the Hawks their fifth victory. She struck out three and walked two.

McGary aided her own cause with a two-run homer and Erin Foster chipped in with a three-run homer and RBI single.

Amanda Fitzpatrick added a triple, double, single and four RBIs for the winners and Tasha Dwyer had two doubles and a single. Lindsay Stewart and Shanelle Dwyer each contributed two singles.

At Calais, Jamie Doliber hit a double in the sixth inning to drive in Darcey Gillespie with the winning run.

Stef Almendinger had two singles with two RBIs for Washington Academy. Justine Ramsdell hit two singles with an RBI and Sara Livingston had a pair of singles.

At Bucksport, Nikki Smith didn’t allow a run or walk and gave up only two hits while striking out nine to give Bucksport the win.

Smith also hit two singles with two RBIs for the Golden Bucks and Jessica Taylor hit two singles with a RBI. Brittany Damon doubled and singled and Tara Tweedie hit a single with three RBIs.

Tessa Grindle and Caleigh Keevan each singled for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

At Bangor, Amber Leathers nailed a three-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Patriots the edge.

Kara Hartman hit two singles for Bangor Christian while Monique Veilleux added an RBI single.

Jodi Pinkham had a triple and a home run for three RBIs while Naomi Chandler contributed with two singles and a triple for Jonesport-Beals.

At Milo, Dani Graves gave up only one run, three hits, and one walk while striking out 10 to lead Penquis to the victory.

Mindy Dyer hit three singles for Patriots. Michelle Mulherin and Jean Hamlin each had two singles with a RBI and Amanda Martin hit a RBI single.

Brittany Jacobs had a RBI single for Schenck.

At Woodland, Elise Dublin came around to score on Missy Barbee’s single in the top of the ninth inning and the Knights held on to edge the Dragons.

Barbee had three singles and two runs batted. Brook Courdrain drove in two runs on a double and a single and Morgan West had a pair of singles and an RBI for Narraguagus of Harrington.

Katie Holmes had a double, three singles and two runs batted in.
