WASHBURN – Liza Maynard hit three singles and knocked in two runs to power the Washburn softball team to an 8-4 victory over Greater Houlton Christian Academy Saturday in high school action.
Nicole McLaughlin struck out eleven and gave up four walks for the Beavers. Kristen Carter doubled and single with a RBI and Tabitha Blakney had a two-run single.
Kia Faulkner hit three singles with a RBI for GHCA. Erin Moakler had two singles with a RBI and Danielle Kelly hit a RBI single.

At Millinocket Friday, Natasha Ritchie fired a one-hitter, striking out eight and walking six, and she aided her own cause with a double and two singles.
Anna Lenentine had three singles and Kasey Cleary had a pair and both scored three times.
Claire Thompson and Alyssa Foster had two singles each.
Jordan Legassey’s single with one out in the sixth ruined Ritchie’s no-hit bid.

At Ellsworth, Becca Goff hit a double, two singles, and scored two runs to lead the Trojans past the Eagles.
Bracey Barker doubled and singled to knock in a run for MDI and Abbie Chapman had a RBI double.
Ellsworth’s Krystal Roberts doubled and singled. Morgan Buckingham and Emma Rieman each hit a RBI single. Tara Dyer struck out 11 and walked two in the loss.

At Ellsworth, Arswhin Asqeus gave up only three runs and one walk while striking out 11 to lead Mount Desert Island to the win.

Garrett Hardison, Matt Ward, and Travis Jordan each hit a RBI single for Ellsworth.

Brewer sweeps Nokomis
At Newport, Chad Gomm allowed only no earned runs, three hits, and one walk while striking out 15 to push Brewer to the 4-1 win over Nokomis in the second game. The Witches took game one 11-3.
In the first game, Zack Bouzan-Kaloustian doubled and singled with a RBI for Brewer. Kevin McAvoy hit two singles and Justin Hardy had a RBI single.
Justin Nichols had a triple and a single for Nokomis. Seth Bradstreet hit a pair of singles with a RBI and Alex Sawyer doubled and singled.
In the second game, McAvoy and Hardy each had a RBI single for the Witches and Bouzan-Kaloustian doubled.
Mike Jacques had a double and a single for the Warriors and Brendon Donaldson singled.

At Lee, Eric Day held the Pandas scoreless to give the Tigers a 3-0 win in the second game. The Pandas took the first game 5-1.
In the first game, Jeremy Ham hit a double and a single and scored two runs for Lee.
Adam Russell hit a RBI single in the first inning for Dexter. Day singled and stole two bases.
In the second game, Kyle Stone hit a pair of singles and scored two runs for Dexter and Adam Russell singled with a RBI.
Tyler Thompson had two singles for the Pandas and Cory Bowker doubled.

At Bangor, Cody Thompson gave up no runs, one hit, and two walks while striking out 11 to give Penobscot Valley of Howland a 13-0 win in the second game. Penquis of Milo won the first game 8-3.
In the First Game, Steve Lamant hit a pair of singles with four RBIs for Penquis. Brett Gerrish hit two singles with two RBIs and Justin Allen had two singles.
Brody Artes and Garrett Lavertu each had a RBI single for Penobscot Valley.
In the Second Game, Matt Osborn tripled and singled to knock in a run for the Howlers. Garrett Lavertu hit two singles as Josh Ireland and Andrew Hallett both had a RBI single.

Greenville sweeps Rangeley
At Greenville, Anthony Lavigne gave up only one earned run, three hits, and two walks while striking out 13 to lead the Lakers to the 7-6 win in the second game. Greenville also took the first game 10-2.
In the first game, Scott Lavigne hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Greenville. Dan Campbell had three singles and scored three runs and Griz Aucoin hit a double and two singles.
In the second game, Scott Lavigne tripled and doubled with three RBIs for the Lakers and Griz Aucoin had a two-run single.
Tyler Philbrick had three singles with two RBIs and scored two runs for Rangeley.

At Farmingdale, Andy Gray’s RBI single in the seventh provided the game-winning run for the Bulldogs.
Nate Duncklee singled twice and had an RBI for Hall-Dale. Steve Vellani and Derek Trask added two singles apiece. Joe Wilvett earned the win.
Bryan Berube doubled and tripled with two RBIs for the Buccaneers of Thomaston. Randy Maloney singled twice and knocked in a run. Maloney picked up the loss.

At Old Town, Joey Guerrette reached on an error and scored on an Andy Pease fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh to provide the winning run for the Indians.
Chris Rand singled and scored on an error in the seventh to tie the game. Brady Goody and Guerrette each added a single for the Indians. Mike Russell won a pitchers’ duel, allowing just two hits in the first inning, striking out four and walking none.
Eric Libby singled and scored on a Kyle Dalton double in the first. Chris Pease earned the loss despite allowing three hits, striking out six and walking six.
