HOULTON – Justin Henderson scattered three hits, struck out seven and scored a run Monday as the Houlton Shiretowners earned a 2-0 baseball win over Hodgdon.
Henderson hit two singles, including one in the third. He later scored on a botched pick-off attempt at second base.
Henderson also struck out the side in the top of the seventh with runners at second and third. He walked two.
Derek Nickerson lost the pitchers’ duel despite giving up just three hits, striking out seven and walking two. Chris McAtee doubled and singled for Hodgdon.

At Presque Isle, Josh Young fired a one-hitter in the opener and Steve Fergerson scattered seven hits in the nightcap as Bangor swept, extending its winning streak to seven games.
In the first game, Young struck out 12 and didn’t walk anybody. He drove in the only run he was to need with a first-inning single.
Nick Larochelle had a double and two singles and drove in two runs for the Rams; Brian Hackett had two doubles and an RBI; Young drove in two runs with a double and a single and Jordan Heath had two singles and an RBI.
Jeremy Dickinson’s fourth-inning single was Presque Isle’s only hit.
In the second game, Fergerson struck out three and didn’t walk anybody and the Rams erupted for six, two-out runs in the second inning.
Joe Monahan singled twice for Presque Isle.

The Owls’ Peter Gerard, Steve Guerrette and Eric Gendreau combined on a four-hitter in the 10-1 opener, striking out 15 and walking three.
In the second game, Thompson, Clint Carter, Lucas Hafford and Kyle Corey had RBI singles in a five-run fifth that snapped a scoreless tie.
Corey had two singles for the Beavers while Gendreau doubled and singled for Madawaska.
In the first game, Gendreau’s two-run single in the first supplied the Owls with the only runs they were to need. Gendreau also doubled. Paul Roy had a double and a single (RBI) and Shawn Boucher belted a two-run triple.
Josh Bigbee had two singles for Washburn and Carter added an RBI double.

At Eastport, the Tigers rallied in the sixth inning, pounding out six RBI singles en route to 10 runs, in a 13-10 come-from-behind victory in the second game of a doubleheader. Shead won the opener 15-0.
In the first game, Derek Maloney drove in three runs on a double and two singles, and Josh Francis had three RBIs on a triple and a double. Darrin Constant singled twice.
Darius Parker, Ryan Fish and Micah Barnes each singled for the Vikings of Danforth.
