Bee good

Wondering what the buzz is all about in Orono? It’s time for the historical society’s eighth annual tasting bee, which allows foodies to sample food from six local restaurants. The event will take place from 5 to 7 tonight at the Asa Adams School gym. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12, and there is no charge for children under 6. Proceeds will benefit Orono’s 2006 bicentennial fund. Tickets are available at The Store/Ampersand, The Pretty Woman, at the door, or by calling Marlene Doucette at 866-2597.

Mediterranean flair

Chef Oliver Outerbridge, formerly of the Spring Street Caf? in Belfast, has started a new venture as head chef at Mistral. The restaurant, located at the Belfast Bay Meadows Inn, serves such dishes as Dijon-grilled, butterflied leg of lamb with a rosemary-shallot demiglace; white bean canneloni with seared greens, thyme, garlic, Parmesan-Reggiano and leek bechamel; and lobster ravioli with asparagus, leeks and aioli.
