Conley, Carey lead FA Ponies by MDI Trojans

BREWER – Foxcroft Academy’s Adam Conley gave Matt Carey all the run support he needed with a two-run first inning single as the Ponies shut down Mount Desert Island 5-1 in baseball action Thursday.

Conley added a sacrifice fly and a fielder’s choice RBI for the winners. Josh Withee and Danny White had two singles apiece.

Jon Dow laced two singles to lead the Trojans.

Machias 10, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Jonesport, Nate Poore fired a one-hitter, striking out 10 and walking just two in the Tigers win over the Royals.

Chris Carlow had two singles and drove in a run and Scott Brokaw drove in a pair of runs with a single for Machias.

Tim Holmes singled in the third inning for Jonesport-Beals.

Searsport, Schenck split

At Searsport on Wednesday, Drew Mercier homered, doubled and singled as the Vikings earned a split with the Wolverines winning the second game 14-2 after Schenck had won the first game 6-1.

In the second game, Matt Nickerson had three doubles and Mike Adams singled three times for Searsport.

Nick Bishop had an RBI single for Schenck of East Millinocket.

In the first game, Jared DeSantis doubled, singled and drove in a run for the Wolverines.

Nick Dakin drove in a run with a single for the Vikings.

At Harrington, Nick Seelye’s triple in the top of the seventh inning drove in Scott MacDonald with what proved to be the winning run as the Blue Devils edged the Knights.

Russ McLean had a two-run homer and a single, Ben Dow singled three times and MacDonald added a double to his totals for Calais.

Gabe Checker had a pair of singles, Joe Leighton drove in two runs with a double and Cory Worcester tripled for Narraguagus.

Presque Isle 4, Caribou 3

At Presque Isle Wednesday night, Sam Mathers’ single with two outs in the seventh delivered Chris Parsons with the winning run.

Parsons had singled and moved up on a hit batsman and a walk.

A two-out wild pitch plated the tying run in the sixth.

Lefty Chad Lavway hurled three innings of hitless, eight-strikeout relief for the win.

Parsons had a double and two singles for Presque Isle and Lavway doubled and singled. Adam Swanson contributed a run-scoring triple and R.J. Gagnon doubled home a run.

Ryan Rogers had two singles and Justin Selfridge hit a two-run double to help Caribou build a 3-0 lead.

At Brewer, Abbie Chapman and Jessica Norwood each had an RBI double as the Trojans held back the Ponies.

Jamie Daugherty chipped in two singles for MDI.

Kristina Weymouth laced a two-run double for Foxcroft and Leigh Cartwright added an RBI single.

At Harrington, Nikki Ellington fired a no-hitter with six strikeouts as the Blue Devils rolled.

Amanda Brown laced an RBI double and Alissa Thomas hit an RBI single for Calais. Darcy Gillespie added two singles with an RBI.

Machias 19, Jonesport-Beals 7

At Jonesport, Jillian Whitney’s three-run triple and Christi Holmes’ two-run double keyed a 10-run fourth inning that erased a 6-3 deficit.

It was Machias’ home game although it had to be moved to Jonesport.

Whitney had two singles to go with her triple and finished with a career-high six RBIs. Holmes had two singles to accompany her double and knocked in three and Lindsey Cherry singled twice and drove in a run.

Ashley Whitman pitched a three-hitter, striking out four and walking eight.

Jodi Pinkham’s two-run double and Monique Emerson’s RBI double led Jonesport-Beals.
