An Etna man was arrested Sunday morning after backing into a telephone pole in the Big Apple parking lot on Main Street in Orono.

Joseph Landry, 45, was arrested on a warrant for failure to pay a fine after Orono police Officer Joshua Ewing witnessed the minor crash at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Ewing estimated the damage to the tailgate of the 1993 Chevrolet pickup at $100 and said there was no damage to the telephone pole.

One man was summoned and one man was arrested Sunday after a report of a stolen bicycle on Walter Street in Bangor at 12:30 a.m.

After initially denying to police that he had taken the bicycle, Joshua Emerson, 19, of Bangor said he had taken the bicycle but returned it to its owner, Karen Stewart, 37, of Bangor, according to police reports. Emerson said he planned to use to bike to carry a heavy backpack for Harry Johnson, 20, a transient.

Both Emerson and Johnson were intoxicated, according to the report.

While talking with Emerson, Bangor police Officer Brandon Vafiades saw a bulge in the pocket of his shorts, which was soon identified as a marijuana pipe. Emerson said he had smoked marijuana in the pipe earlier and was summoned for sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Emerson was also carrying a small box containing a silver bracelet and ring, which he said he got from a residence on Walter Street where Johnson was removing some belongings. Johnson said he had never seen the jewelry and Emerson was summoned for theft, according to the report.

Johnson was arrested on a warrant for failure to pay fines on a theft charge.

A pedestrian was struck on Main Street in Bangor on Sunday afternoon while crossing the street.

Trudy Plummer, 35, of Bangor was not in the crosswalk when she was hit by a 1994 Jeep driven by Ryan Gaudet, 17, of Winterport at 12:30 p.m., according to a report by Bangor police Officer Michael Brennan.

Plummer was not reported as being hospitalized Sunday night.

Plummer told police she had waved to Gaudet before crossing and thought he had seen her, according to the report.

Gaudet said he saw Plummer after looking away and could not stop in time to avoid hitting her.

A man was arrested for disorderly conduct Sunday morning after hiding from Bangor police and yelling obscenities.

Ricky Hendsbee, 22, of Glenburn told police he had avoided the cruiser on Finson Road at 4:30 a.m. because he did not like police. He was intoxicated and began yelling obscenities at the officer after providing identification, according to police reports.

Hendsbee then ran down the street and between houses before the officer met up with him again. He walked up to the police car and continued to yell obscenities when the officer asked him if he wanted his license back. Hendsbee was given a warning for disorderly conduct, and he then threatened to kick the officer.

Hendsbee then was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, and a pair of wire cutters was removed from his pocket.
