PITTSFIELD, N.Y. – Kevin Pincavitch threw a complete-game three-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks as the Bangor Lumberjacks shut down the Berkshire Black Bears 2-0 Tuesday in Northeast League action at Waconah Park.

Berkshire starter Dan Henderson had a no-hitter going until the top of the sixth, when Bangor’s Brad Hargreaves hit a one-out single to right, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on a two-out single by Todd Brock. Jude Voltz added an RBI single for the Lumberjacks (10-17) in the seventh.

Donnie Ross, Lorenzo De la Cruz, and Juan Silvestre each added a single for Bangor. Pincavitch goes to 1-1.

Henderson (0-4) gave up four hits, struck out four and walked one in six innings. The Black Bears fall to 15-17.

The two teams will meet at 7:05 p.m. tonight for the third of a four-game series. Berkshire won the first two games.

Portland 6, Akron 5

PORTLAND – Kelly Shoppach drove in four runs with a double and a homer as the Portland Sea Dogs downed the Akron Aeros 6-5 Tuesday in the Eastern League.

The Sea Dogs also capitalized on doubles by Kevin Youkilis and Sean McGowan, while Joe Inglett and Alex Requena homered for the Aeros.

The game was tied 4-4 through seven innings. After Inglett’s leadoff homer gave Akron (50-29) a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, a pair of singles and back-to-back doubles by Youkilis and Shoppach sparked Portland’s three-run rally in the bottom of the inning.

Requena’s homer made it 3-2 in the third and the Aeros tied it 3-3 in the fourth on two singles and a fielder’s choice.

McGowen doubled and scored as Portland (40-30) went ahead 4-3 in the sixth, but the Aeros tied it again in the seventh on two singles, a sacrifice bunt and a groundout.

After Youkilis walked to lead off Portland’s eighth, Shoppach lofted a 2-0 pitch over the centerfield fence to make it 6-4.

Tyler Minges doubled and scored the game’s last run in the top of the ninth.

Portland starting pitcher Tim Kester struck out five, walked one and gave up four earned runs over eight innings to even his record at 4-4, while Anastacio Martinez notched his 10th save. Akron reliever Ryan Larson dropped to 0-4 with the loss.
