Pal leads Acadian rout; Coastal, Bucksport win

BAR HARBOR – Acadian’s Charlie Pal combined with Chase Bickford on a one-hitter and provided all the offense Bickford would need as he drove in two runs with a triple and a double in a 19-11 District I, ages 9-10 baseball all-star victory over Bucksport II Tuesday.

Justin Clapper’s first-inning single was the only hit allowed by Bickford and Pal.

At Brooklin, Josh Gale’s two-run single highlighted a three-run rally in the first inning that propelled Coastal to victory.

Ellsworth scored once in the top of the second, but Coastal scored once in the bottom of the inning and twice more in the third to take a 6-1 lead.

Gale finished with two singles in support of winning pitcher Jesse Dow, who hurled a complete game.

Jordan Carter doubled and singled for Ellsworth, while Cody Austin tripled and Kameron Jordan doubled.

Bucksport 8, Machias 7

At Bucksport, Cody Davis allowed only one hit in the last four innings and Bucksport scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to advance.

Zack Hall hit an RBI single for the winners and John Dahl had an RBI single for Machias in the top of the sixth to tie it at 7 before Bucksport’s rally in the home half.

Old Town 13, Holbrook 11

At Bangor West, Chris Gilman doubled, singled twice and knocked in two runs as Old Town prevailed.

Casey Estes notched a double and two singles for the winners and Brandon Cyr added two singles.

Thomas Schultz socked three singles and drove in a pair for Holbrook. Ryan Adams hit a double and a single, and Peter Schultz added two singles.

Calais 14, Sunrise 7

At Milbridge, Cam Shorey racked up two singles, a double, triple and three RBIs as Calais rolled.

Adam Geel and Spencer McCormick each had an RBI single for the winners and Dylan Carter notched two singles.

Curtis Worcester doubled, singled and knocked in a run to lead Sunrise. Brendan Penney socked an RBI double, and Mike Crowley and Andrew Kennedy added an RBI single each.

Brewer 13, Hampden 6

At Brewer, Billy Bissell hit a three-run home run and singled to lead the Brewer all-stars by Hampden.

Bissell also notched the win after pitching the whole game. Dave McNally and Joey Perry each singled twice and Chase Daniels added a double.

Nate Clark had a double and a single for Hampden while Nolan Turner and Greg O’Donnell each doubled.

Bangor East 10, Millinocket 1

At Millinocket, Mack Susi scattered seven hits while striking out nine and walking only one to help Bangor East advance.

Bangor sealed the win with a five-run fifth inning with an RBI triple by Jordan Clarke and RBI singles from Ken Beede, Per Claeson and Chad Kelley. Susi aided his own cause with a two-run single in the first.

Jeremy Santerre tripled and singled for Millinocket and Jared McGreevy added an RBI single.

Holbrook 6, Glenburn-Levant 3

At Glenburn, Nicholas Pooler singled, doubled and went the distance on the mound, scattering three runs on five hits with six strikeouts as Holbrook prevailed.

Alan Reese and Vinny Brown had a single and double apiece for Glenburn-Levant. Tim Kenerson doubled and struck out eight.

Bangor West 10, Border 0

At Hodgdon, Ryan LaRochelle and Matt Duplisea combined on a four-inning perfect game with 11 strikeouts for Bangor West.

Nick Standley collected two doubles, a single and drove in four runs for the winners. Cody McInnis recorded two singles, while Tommy Augustine added a double and Kyle Savage a single, respectively.

Old Town 13, Hermon 1

At Old Town, Nathan Michaud pitched a three-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one, and he was backed by a 13-hit attack.

Lonnie Hackett and Brian Winchenbach hit two-run doubles in a decisive five-run second inning.

Hackett drove in four runs with two doubles and a single; Jason Smith had a triple and two singles and drove in three runs; Corey Georgia doubled and singled and knocked in two runs and Dan LeBreton hit a solo homer.

Kevin Tarr and Bryce Stanhope doubled for Hermon and Tarr drove in a run.

Orrington 8, Orono-Veazie 5

At Orrington, Jeremy Gray slammed a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to give Orrington the win.

Joey Cox and Joe McKay had a triple and a single each for the winners. Ben Turner contributed a sacrifice fly and a single.

Bill Weatherbee and Nate Hennigan hit a double apiece for Orono-Veazie. Matt Storgard added a triple.
