Lincoln Memorial Library Art Show coordinator Janice McCafferty invites amateur and professional artists to submit original art for the third annual event, which runs from Monday, Aug. 18, through Saturday, Aug. 23.
“The packets are ready to be picked up, and registration forms must be submitted by Thursday, July 31,” McCafferty said.
Those packets are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at the library, 21 West Broadway in Lincoln.
Artists can call McCafferty or library director Lisa Auriemma, 794-2765, for more information.
The show features three categories: professional, amateur and youth age 18 and under.
Prizes of $30 gift certificates for use in Lincoln will be offered.
The response to previous shows has been very good, McCafferty said, and she is looking for that trend to continue.
McCafferty expects that this year’s theme, “Life at the Lake,” will be one that area artists will enjoy.
The artwork, she suggested, “could reflect the life and beauty of Maine lakes, be it your favorite fishing area, boating at camp, or the study of a dragonfly.”
Artists are allowed to enter two pieces, but neither can exceed 30 inches in height or width.
McCafferty mentioned that, this year, planners found it necessary “to increase the size of the works to allow for more freedom of expression,” and added that while “Life at the Lake” is the theme, “any creative ideas, or subjects, are welcome, as long as they are original.
“We want area artists to have fun and express themselves in their own personal style,” she emphasized.
Entries can be of any medium, including prints, sculpture, photographs, or digital art, “but all must be original, and all must be framed, matted and ready to hang,” she said.
An art show reception, which includes a buffet, is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
In the meantime, get those packets, and get your work ready for the show!
