Clark, Waldo edge Navigators

BANGOR – Nate Clark outdueled Josh Withee, tossing seven shutout innings with three hits and a pair of strikeouts, as Waldo nipped Penquis 1-0 in American Legion Zone 1 baseball play Wednesday night at Husson College.

Tom Dennen scored the game’s lone run on an error. He had stolen third base, and the throw went over the third baseman’s head, allowing Dennen to scamper home.

Jesse Johnson had three singles and Ken Spaulding two for the winners.

Caleb Pelletier tripled for the Penquis Navigators, and Ross Morrison and James Gray had a single each.

Lincoln 4, Trenton 1

At Millinocket, Nate Cousineau hit a two-run home run to spark Lincoln to a 4-1 victory over Trenton.

Cousineau’s blast in the second inning gave Lincoln a 2-0 lead, which winning pitcher Jeremy Ham made stand up by hurling a complete-game six-hitter.

Scott Flannery added two singles and an RBI for Lincoln, while Chris Sargent led Trenton with a pair of singles.

Mayo and Hines; Ham and Barnett

Calais 25, Houlton 8

At Houlton, Josh Francis hit two doubles and two singles and Jeff Dougherty added four singles.

Calais scored five runs in the top of the first inning and added eight runs in the second to put the game away.

Ryan McClay earned the win.

Chris Parsons led Houlton with three singles.

Bangor 6, Hampden 1

At Bangor’s Mansfield Stadium, Billy Chapman scattered seven hits and Brian Worster drove in three runs to power the Comrades past the Riverdogs.

Chapman struck out eight and walked one in improving his record to 3-0.

Worster’s hit a two-run single in the first inning and a run-scoring fielder’s choice in the four-run third inning, which was highlighted by Alex Means’ two-run double.

Kevin Brooks had two singles for Hampden, Mike Brown tripled and Eric Libby singled home the lone run.
