Gray’s homer lifts Penquis to victory Brewer, Orono, Calais also post wins

DOVER-FOXCROFT – James Gray hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh to give the Penquis Navigators an 8-7 Zone 1 American Legion victory over Waldo County.

Adam Russell tripled in two runs for Penquis. Josh Withee had two singles and an RBI and Jason Weymouth added two singles.

Nick Arthers doubled and singled for Waldo. Kenton Spaulding notched two singles and an RBI while Brandon Gardner singled twice.

Brewer 11, Trenton 2

At Ellsworth, Kyle Dalton hit a double and a triple good for four RBIs to help carry Brewer past Trenton.

Jason Harvey had a double and a single for Brewer while Marcus Boober added two-run single.

Mark Clapp led Trenton with two singles and an RBI.

Orono 9, Hampden 1

At Hampden, Corey Estes and Andy Pease each had a double, a single and two RBIs to help lead Orono past Hampden.

Brad Goody and Jeff Miller contributed two singles apiece.

Kevin Brooks and Eric Libby each hit two singles for Hampden while Joel Neil doubled.

Calais 11, Lincoln 0

At Millinocket, Ben Maloney hit an RBI double and pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out four batters, to pace Calais.

James Ramsdell led the Calais offense with a single and a double for three RBIs while James McDonald hit a two-run double. Cahd Pike had an RBI double while Scott McDonald chipped in with an RBI single.

Jason Murchinson led the Lincoln effort with a triple.
