Woman arrested for OUI in Brewer

Brewer police arrested a Swanville woman on an OUI charge early Friday morning.

Officer Jeff Gotreau stopped a car at the Big Apple store on Wilson Street at about 1:15 a.m. after it drove by without its headlights on, his report said.

Gotreau said the driver, Mary Giltner, 44, smelled of alcohol and performed poorly on field sobriety tests.

Giltner allegedly said she had only two drinks earlier that evening, but Gotreau said an Intoxilyzer test showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

A van was reported stolen from a Bangor filling station early Friday.

Bangor police Officer Michael Jewett reported that a Levant man told him he left the Airport On The Run convenience store on Union Street to find his blue 1996 Plymouth Voyager missing. The man told Jewett he had left the van running outside the store two minutes earlier.

A search failed to produce the van, Jewett said. Area agencies were notified of the theft.

A pink Honda Accord was reported stolen from a downtown Bangor parking lot Thursday night.

Bangor police Officer Chad Foley’s report said he spoke with a man at Bangor Public Library who said he had left the car parked and locked in the lot across from the Federal Building on Harlow Street. The man said the car has a sunroof and a scratch on the hood.
