Santerre 11th at Watkins Glen

At Watkins Glen, N.Y., Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn., won the rain-shortened Mohegan Sun 150 NASCAR Busch North Series race at Watkins Glen International Speedway on Saturday.

Christopher won the race by gambling he had enough fuel to last until the rain came, unlike pole-sitter Dale Quarterley, who gave up the lead to pit on lap 32 and wound up in 15th place when a deluge of rain ended the scheduled 62-lap event after 41 circuits of the 2.45-mile road course.

Cherryfield’s Andy Santerre finished 11th, and extended his series lead to 50 points over Mike Stefanik, who moved into second in the standings with a seventh-place finish.

Kelly Moore of Scarborough, who began the weekend in second place just 11 points behind Santerre, suffered a late-race spin and finished 31st. Kelly Moore’s son, Ryan Moore, who was third in points when the day began, had an early accident and finished 35th, 23 laps down.

Kelly Moore is now third in the standings, 71 points behind Santerre, while Mike Johnson (134 points behind) and Ryan Moore (136 behind) round out the top five.
