Veazie police summoned a Bangor man for possession of a concealed weapon early Wednesday.

Officer Michael Adams reported that he clocked a passing car at 51 mph in a 35 mph zone at about 1 a.m. and pulled the car over. He issued a speed warning to the driver, Aaron Hoff, 19, and then asked if he could search Hoff’s car.

Adams said that under the driver’s seat was a Nazi dagger from World War II, with a foot-long blade.

A Bangor woman was summoned on drug possession charges in Brewer Wednesday afternoon. Brewer police Officer John Knapp reported that he pulled over a car on Interstate 395 at about 2:40 p.m. because it had no inspection sticker. Knapp said the driver, Joanne Birmingham, 33, consented to a search of the car.

Knapp said he found two different bottles of medication in Birmingham’s purse, but no evidence of a prescription. He charged her with possession of schedule Z drugs.

Brewer police arrested a Bangor man on charges of operating under the influence Tuesday night.

Officer Rodney Gerald reported that he stopped a car on Wilson Street that was moving at 60 mph through a posted construction zone just before midnight.

Gerald said the driver, Joseph Cota, 45, showed signs of intoxication, but only admitted to drinking two beers.Gerald said Cota performed poorly on sobriety tests and was arrested for operating under the influence. An Intoxilyzer test showed Cota had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Bangor police summoned a man for assault early Wednesday.

Officer Myron Warner reported that a man came to the police station just after midnight saying Michael Moody, 24, of Bangor, had assaulted him three or four days earlier and again Tuesday night.

The complainant said all he remembered from the first assault was that Moody charged him, and he later woke up with a bleeding cut on his head.

The man said the second assault occurred at a First Street apartment, where he went into the hallway to investigate a “ruckus,” and found Moody, who punched him in the head several times.

Warner said the complainant could offer no reason why Moody might have a problem with him, and he was somewhat reluctant to press charges for fear of retaliation.

Officer Randy Parsons found Moody and summoned him with assault charges. Warner said he later learned Moody was on bail for an earlier arrest and wrote a summons for bail violation.
