2 men charged after altercation in Bangor

BANGOR – A Saturday night scuffle on Ohio Street led to the arrest of one man for assault and resisting arrest while another man was cited for simple assault after striking a pregnant woman.

According to Bangor police, Robert Seeley, 19, of Bangor and his pregnant girlfriend, Kristy Smith, 20, of Bangor, were walking on Ohio Street at 9:40 p.m. when they met a group of three men walking toward them. Police said one of the men, Andrew Williams, 32, of Brewer, approached Seeley and repeatedly asked him: “Do you want a piece of me?”

Seeley, according to police, told Williams to walk away, but the Brewer man continued to confront the couple and challenged them to a fight. Williams, police contend, focused his attention on Smith, and eventually struck the pregnant woman on the head.

That punch led Seeley to exchange blows with Williams. Police said one of the two men walking with Williams hit Seeley with a whiskey bottle as the fight continued. Police arrived shortly thereafter and two of the men ran off.

Police say Williams was agitated and continued to say he wanted to fight with Seeley. He was issued a summons for simple assault.

Police also found the man they believe struck Seeley with the whiskey bottle standing in a Court Street parking lot. Bangor police Officer Douglas Moore approached Timothy Robinson, 36, of Bangor and told him to turn around and place his arms behind his back.

Robinson, according to Moore’s report, refused to do so and clenched his fists while claiming he didn’t do anything wrong. Moore took Robinson by the left arm, but Robinson broke free and ran about 20 yards away from him.

Moore chased Robinson down and again told him to place his arms behind his back. Robinson refused to do so, and again clenched his fists, according to a police report. Moore then subdued him with pepper spray and arrested him, charging him with assault and resisting arrest. Robinson was booked at the Penobscot County Jail after his arrest.
