Lizotte, Wisdom top Washburn Lajoie goal lifts Van Buren past Owls

At St. Agatha, Christa Lizotte scored all of her team’s goals as host Wisdom defeated Washburn 4-1 in a schoolgirl soccer match Monday.

Lizotte scored twice in each half for the Pioneers, who led 2-0 at intermission. Kristen Marquis and Jana Collin each had assists for 2-0 Wisdom.

Nicole McLaughlin scored unassisted for 0-1 Washburn.

Wisdom goalie Kayla Daigle made 11 saves on 16 shots, while Washburn’s Amber Palmer made 13 saves on 35 shots.

Van Buren 1, Madawaska 0

At Van Buren, Megan Lajoie scored off an Amber Martin assist with 26:42 left in the first half to give Van Buren the win.

Lisa Levasseur made four saves on eight shots for 1-0 Van Buren.

Erin Pelletier stopped five of eight shots for 0-1 Madawaska.

Boys soccer

Washburn 6, Wisdom 1

At St. Agatha, Isaac Carney scored two goals and assisted on two others to help Washburn to the win.

Zach Bird scored twice and had an assist and Josh Goupille also had two goals. Jason Thompson stopped 10 of 11 shots for 1-0 Washburn.

Wayne Dyment scored off of a Wesley Chasse assist or 0-1 Wisdom. Kenny Corriveau made six saves on 20 shots.

Madawaska 2, Van Buren 1

At Van Buren, Myles Morneault scored the game-winning goal with 2:12 left in the first half to give Madawaska the win.

Morneault also scored the Owls’ first goal off a Billy Roy assist. Jon Cowie made 10 saves on 13 shots for 1-0 Madawaska.

Jeremy Chasse scored an unassisted goal four minutes into the game for Van Buren. Dustin Cyr stopped eight of 10 shots for the 0-1 Crusaders.
