Area students intern in Snowe’s Bangor office

BANGOR – While their fellow college classmates enjoyed summer recess on the tourist-friendly Maine beaches and worked part time at local hotels and restaurants, Ryan Logue of Stetson and James Booth Jr. of Verona pursued internships in U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe’s Bangor office instead.

As staff aides, Logue and Booth helped with the daily news digest, constituent requests and special office projects, and attended events on behalf of the senator.

“The dedication of these young men serves as a model to present and future young adults to experience the challenges and rewards of public service,” Snowe said.

“Young adults engaging in the political system is refreshing and gives hope that the next generation will continue to seek solutions to build on the policies we implement today,” she said. “James and Ryan, and all political interns in Washington and across the country, truly exemplify that young adults are interested in their futures and the future of this great democracy.”

Booth is a student at McGill University in Montreal, where he is studying economics and political science. He is a graduate of Bucksport High School and expects to graduate from McGill in 2006.

Logue is a student at the University of Rhode Island, where he studies political science. He is a graduate of Central High School in Corinth and expects to graduate from URI in 2006.
