My sister, her husband and I attended the National Folk Festival Saturday, Aug. 23. We were so impressed that she and I returned Sunday. We saw many splendid performances. The one we saw to close out the day Sunday was Dale Watson and his LoneStars. Their performance was tremendous, even to someone who is not known as a country music fan. The highlight of their show was their interpreter for the hearing impaired. She was part of the band and the music, and she did an incredible job.
Some years ago I saw Sweet Honey in the Rock at the Maine Center for the Arts. The interpreter the group brought was fantastic. I think Watson’s interpreter was equally good. I was surprised to see that she is from Bangor.
