Diabetes support group

BANGOR – The diabetes support group will feature J.P. La Tour of Aventis Pharmaceuticals, at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Diabetes and Nutrition Center, Building 1, St. Joseph Healthcare Park, 900 Broadway. The topic will be “Insulin: How It can Help You.”

Brass and percussion players

BANGOR – A new Bangor Area Senior Drum and Bugle Corps is seeking instructors and players over age 18 with a high school level or better musical background. The plan is to organize a parade and exhibition marching unit. Practice times are planned for several hours every other Sunday. Call Dan Francey at 941-8896 to learn more.

VFW blood drive

HAMPDEN – Hampden VFW Post 4633 will be host to a blood drive 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the post home. The Red Cross will conduct the blood drive. VFW members urge the public to participate because the current supply of blood is low.

Tourism panel plans forums

BANGOR ? The Maine Tourism Commission’s Natural Resources Committee, in conjunction with the Maine Office of Tourism, will hold a series of public forums.

In response to growing demands, and opportunities associated with the state’s natural resource base, the Maine Tourism Commission established a Natural Resources Committee.

The Bangor forum is set for 3-5 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Holiday Inn on Main Street. Other sites for forums include Calais, Ellsworth, Millinocket, South Portland, Farmington, South Paris, Rockport, Rockwood, St. Agatha, Mars Hill and Bingham.
