Man, woman charged with burglary in Brewer

Brewer police arrested a Glenburn man and a Milford woman on numerous burglary and other charges Sunday afternoon.

Sgt. Jason Moffitt said he and Officer Tony Pinette went to a Brewer Street address at about 5:30 p.m. to investigate a report of suspicious persons. A neighbor had called saying a man was hanging around one of the houses there. Moffit said the individual described by the caller had been arrested in July for breaking into that house.

Moffit said he and Pinette approached a man and woman next to a house. Moffitt said Terrance Pinkham, 18, was carrying a duffel bag containing what appeared to be a rifle. The officers handcuffed Pinkham, searched him and found a loaded rifle in the bag.

Moffitt and Pinette, deciding it was likely a burglary had occurred in the area, called for a bloodhound to retrace the steps of Pinkham and his companion, Carrie Dyment, 20. Detective Sgt. Jay Munson and Detective Fred Luce also arrived to assist in the investigation.

After interviewing the suspects and witnesses it was determined, Moffitt said, that Pinkham had burglarized the house twice in the past 24 hours, and was in the process of trying to burglarize another house, with Dyment’s help, when they were caught. The bloodhounds’ search corroborated this account.

Pinkham was arrested and charged with Class A burglary, Class B burglary, attempted burglary, possession of burglar’s tools, possession of a concealed weapon and theft of a firearm.

Dyment was arrested and charged with attempted burglary, possession of burglar’s tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Moffitt said the investigation continued into the night, and turned up more stolen property at a Brewer residence.

Bangor police arrested five people on multiple car burglary charges early Tuesday morning.

David Smedal, 19, of Hampden; Blaine Grant, 18, of Bangor; Shane Burke, 20, of Bangor; and two juveniles were arrested in connection with burglaries to cars in the Birch Hill Estates area in Bangor and in Glenburn, according to Bangor police Detective Larry Ellis.

A Bangor man received a criminal threatening summons Sunday morning after he allegedly threatened to punch his neighbor.

Bangor police Officer Marty McCrea reported that at about 11:30 a.m. a Wing Street man called police, saying he’d had a dispute with a man on neighboring Bowdoin Place.

The complainant said he was unloading supplies from his vehicle when Rory Hartley, 48, tried to turn onto his street and found it blocked by the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant told McCrea he had offered to move his vehicle when Hartley walked up to the driver’s side window, and after a verbal dispute threatened to punch him in the face.

The complainant allegedly said Hartley also told the complainant’s wife, “Get out of my face, or I’m gonna knock your head off!”

McCrea said he spoke with Hartley, who allegedly admitted to the threats although he said he hadn’t hit anybody. McCrea summoned Hartley for criminal threatening.

Bangor police arrested a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend Monday morning.

Officer Butch Moor reported that at about 10:15 a.m. a State Street woman called saying her live-in boyfriend, Fred Pease, 22, had slapped her and threatened to hit her.

The woman said she had talked Pease into leaving.

Moor said he found Pease sitting on a neighbor’s front steps. He was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
