AUGUSTA – Efforts by the Eastern Maine Medical Center to prevent a disorder that weakens the legs of its victims were recognized Wednesday by the governor, who urged all Mainers to be aware of the symptoms of peripheral vascular disease.
In a brief ceremony attended by Dr. Erik Steele, vice president of patient care services, and Deborah Sanford, R.N., patient care administrator, Gov. John E. Baldacci praised the hospital’s participation in the national “Legs for Life” program.
Screenings for PVD will be offered free of charge at EMMC on Friday, Sept. 12.
Those interested in participating in the free screening should contact EMMC at 973-8193 for an appointment.
