FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Carmen Gabriel posted 16 kills with a .500 hitting percentage while notching 17 assists and eight digs to help lead the University of Maine to a sweep of Sacred Heart in the Sacred Heart University Invitational Friday.
Leah Guidinger had 12 kills, Shelly Seipp registered 19 assists and Jody Connacher came up with 10 digs for the 3-2 Black Bears. Brittany Howe made three solo blocks and had two block assists.
For the 1-3 Pioneers, Stacey Geyer had 14 kills. Michelle Clarke made 34 assists.
Maine plays Army today at 2 p.m.

At Bangor, Andy Brower scored in the final minute of regulation to propel the Rams past the Eagles.
Chris Belonick and Brian McEallion chipped in a goal each for 1-0 Unity and Jim Longley stopped 22 out of 34 shots.
Darryl Watson netted two goals for 0-1 Eastern Maine Community College. Tyler Ferguson blocked four out of six shots.
