Michaud’s goal propels Fort Kent

HOULTON – Melissa Michaud scored the game-winning goal off of a Gabrielle Cyr assist with 1:06 left in the game Friday to lift Fort Kent to a 2-1 girls soccer victory over Houlton.

Cyr scored 2-2-1 Fort Kent’s first goal with an assist from Sarah Dubay with 23 minutes left in the second half. Mindy Morneault made eight saves on nine shots.

Danielle Sewell scored on a Aimee Guy assist with 21 minutes remaining in the second half for 2-3 Houlton. Anna Lenentine blocked seven of nine shots.

Southern Aroostook 9, Easton 3

At Dyer Brook, Olivia McGary netted three goals and Kaylea Collier had a goal and three assists as the Warriors rolled past the Bears.

Mindy Watson scored two goals for 2-2-1 Southern Aroostook. Chelsea Collier had a goal and an assist. Maggie Watson and Lindsey Lyons each chipped in with a goal.

Audrey Charette and Erin Caswell combined for 13 saves on 18 shots.

Jessica Ferris, Nina Alexander and Kassie Lovely each scored for 0-7 Easton. Briana White made 16 saves on 31 shots.

Ashland 2, Washburn 0

At Ashland, goals by Jessica Jacques and Beth Chamberlain helped the host Hornets improve their record to 3-0-1.

Jacques scored unassisted with 34:08 left in the first half. Chamberlain headed in her goal with 14:35 left in the game on a crossing pass from Caitlin Sherman.

Ashley Nemer gained the shutout, making seven saves on 11 shots.

Amber Palmer made 26 saves on 31 shots for 1-7 Washburn.

Wisdom 1, Central Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Christa Lizotte scored the game’s lone goal off a Michelle Bourgoin pass as the Pioneers prevailed.

Kayla Daigle made 16 saves against 21 shots for 4-4 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Brittany Lundeen rejected seven of 12 shots for the 4-3-1 Panthers.

Katahdin 4, Bangor Christian 0

At Bangor, Ronni Robinson tallied two goals and Krystal McMoarn notched a goal plus an assist as the Cougars of Sherman Station rolled.

K.C. Duffy-Stanley added a goal and Brandi Violette an assist for 2-0-1 Katahdin. Clarissa Gallagher made two saves on four shots.

Johannah Kutz rejected 14 of 20 shots for the 0-1 Patriots.

Van Buren 2, Fort Fairfield 0

At Van Buren, Casie Caron and Amber Martin netted a goal each in the Crusaders’ win.

Melanie Cyr dished out an assist for 4-0-3 Van Buren, and Lisa Levasseur had to make just one save on four shots.

Dani Searles made 12 saves on 21 shots for the 4-2-1 Tigers.

Brewer 3, MDI 0

At Brewer, Carissa Nicholson scored a goal and assisted on another as the Witches won their opener.

Jordan McLain and Amanda Jamison had a goal each for Brewer, while Hayley Quirk and Katie Harris dished out assists. Harris stopped all 20 shots she faced.

Jessica In made five saves on eight shots for 0-1 Mount Desert Island.

Nokomis 3, Old Town 2

At Old Town, Kristina Gonzalez netted all three of Nokomis’ goals, including the game-winner with 2:40 left in the second half.

Amy Preble and Aimee Paradis each provided assists and Rozlyn Peterson blocked 15 of 17 shots for 1-0 Nokomis of Newport.

Jen Higgins and Allison Gallant each scored for 0-1 Old Town. Heather Surette had an assist and Whitney Carey made 13 saves on 16 shots.

Boys soccer

Southern Aroostook 1, Easton 0

At Dyer Brook, Tom St. Pierre scored on a penalty kick with 1:31 left in the second half to lift host Southern Aroostook to its first win of the season.

Jeff Boutilier earned the shutout in goal, making eight saves on 10 shots for 1-4 Southern Aroostook. Danny Warren made 10 saves on 24 shots for 4-2-1 Easton.

Fort Kent 1, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Ethan Raymond took a through-ball from J.J. Pinette, turned and slid it under on-rushing goalie Eben Thompson with 28 minutes remaining to give Fort Kent its fourth win in as many games.

Derick Plourde made four saves on four shots for Fort Kent while Thompson finished with 22 saves on 27 shots.

Houlton is now 0-3.

Cen. Aroostook 4, Wisdom 0

At Mars Hill, Eric Smith scored two goals as the Panthers improved to 3-2-2.

Brian Grew scored an unassisted goal for Central Aroostook and Jonathan Boyd added goal. Kyle Taylor, Sam Clockedile and Jake Delano dished out an assist apiece, while Boyd and Adam Crew combined to stop three out of seven shots.

Kenny Corriveau rejected 25 of 37 shots for the 0-4 Pioneers of St. Agatha.

Bangor Christian 4, Katahdin 3

At Sherman Station, Ignacio Bustos knocked in two goals as the Patriots won their opener.

Anthony Cole and Josh Griffin added a goal apiece for 1-0 Bangor Christian. D.J. McCleary made 11 saves against 12 shots.

Patrick Willette, Alex McAvoy and Casey Anderson notched a goal each for the 0-2 Cougars. Frank Grass stopped nine out of 11 shots.

Old Town 2, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Tim Niles scored two goals as the Indians won the mutual opener.

John Gerrity and Matt Perkins had an assist each for 1-0 Old Town. Tyler Tracewski made five saves on seven shots.

Zach Wing stopped 13 of 22 shots for the 0-1 Warriors.

JV: Old Town 3-1

Sumner 4, Narraguagus 2

At East Sullivan, Dylan Johnson booted two goals and assisted on another as the Tigers won the mutual season opener.

Kyle Joy and Josh Vandegrift added a goal each for 1-0 Sumner. Mason Young made nine saves on 22 shots.

Faben Ross scored both goals for the 0-1 Knights of Harrington. Cory Worcester made 14 saves on 19 shots.

Searsport 2, Dexter 1

At Dexter, Josh McFarland knocked in a penalty kick in the second half to propel the Vikings to the win.

Matt Nickerson scored off a Ryan Shute pass for 1-0 Searsport. Jake Manner made nine saves against 28 shots.

Brandon Woodman scored for the 0-1 Tigers and Adam Woodman had the assist. Sam Bowers made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Shead 5, Woodland 0

At Eastport, Ricky Kroll notched a goal plus an assist as the Tigers rolled.

Payne Joyner, Aaron Sullivan, Dana Brown and Chris Newman scored a goal apiece for 1-0 Shead while Derek Maloney and Mike Democett added assists. Josh Francis stopped four out of five shots.

Aaron and Craig Moody combined to stop 10 of 15 shots for the 0-1 Dragons.

MDI 3, Brewer 0

At Mount Desert, Richard Hilliard scored three goals as the Trojans won the mutual season opener.

Frosty Pepper and Auvi Gable-Richards had an assist each for MDI. Van Lyons made two saves on four shots.

Matt Quimby stopped eight out of 14 shots for the Witches.

Piscataquis 2, Schenck 1

At East Millinocket, Dan Rockwell headed home Adam King’s free kick with 9:17 remaining to give Piscataquis Community High School of Guilford a win in a mutual season opener.

Rockwell had staked PCHS to a 1-0 lead in the first half but Schenck’s Jason Kimball equalized later in the half off an Aaron White pass.

James Luellen made 19 saves on 26 shots for PCHS while Chad Nelson stopped 20 of 25 shots for Schenck.

Penquis 5, Lee 2

At Lee, Justin Allen scored three goals in the second half to lead Penquis of Milo to the win.

Jordan Allen scored a goal and had an assist for the Patriots. Jordan Allen netted a goal and Garrett Durant had an assist. Kevin Nason stopped 22 of 26 shots.

Rick Kim and Jake Kang scored goals in the first half for 2-1 Lee Academy. David Rideout had one assist and Kris King made 19 saves on 26 attempts.
