Old Town notches 4th win

OLD TOWN – Matt Petrie scored two goals and notched an assist to lead the undefeated Old Town Indians to a 4-1 schoolboy soccer victory over the Fort Kent Warriors Saturday.

John Garrity scored the other goal for the 4-0 winners and Tyler Tracewski saved 13 of 14 shots.

Ethan Raymond scored unassisted for 5-1 Fort Kent and Derek Plourde had 18 saves on 22 shots.

Bangor 3, Caribou 1

At Bangor, Dylan George, Sean Boley and Josh Young each scored to lead the Rams past Caribou.

Ben Hoke added an assist for 2-2 Bangor, and Austin Smith made 10 saves on 12 shots.

David Levasseur scored off a Ben Wakana pass for the 4-3 Vikings. Micah Maurio had four saves against eight shots.

JV: Bangor 13-0

Presque Isle 4, Hampden 2

At Presque Isle, Nate Carter knocked in three goals for the Wildcats in the win.

Trevor Graves added a goal and Benji Lynch an assist for 3-0-1 Presque Isle. Brad Baker had eight saves on 13 shots.

Bud Bridges scored a pair of goals for the 2-2 Broncos and Peter Alexander added an assist. Kenny Mayo stopped nine out of 13 shots.

JV: Hampden 3-0

Schenck 0, PVHS 0 (2OT)

At East Millinocket, the Howlers of Howland and Wolverines battled to a scoreless tie in two overtimes.

Chad Martin had 17 saves on 20 shots for Schenck, while Josh Ireland countered with 12 saves against 22 shots for Penobscot Valley.

Hermon 2, MDI 0

At Hermon, Wyatt Sabo scored two goals with assists from Brian McGinley and Tyler Debay as the Hawks blanked Mount Desert Island.

Corey Archer stopped all eight shots he faced for 1-1 Hermon.

Dan Lyons had 11 saves on 13 shots for the 2-1 Trojans.

Field hockey

Nokomis 3, Hampden 2 (2OT)

At Hampden, Michelle Barden scored the second of her two goals with six minutes left in the second overtime to lift the Warriors of Newport past the Broncos.

Morgan Randlett added a goal for Nokomis. Kristen Gould had eight saves on 10 shots.

Erika Veinote tallied two goals for Hampden while Aly Lumino had an assist. Hannah Thieme saved nine of 13 shots.

JV: 1-1

Central 5, Brewer 1

At Corinth, Beth Dauphinee scored two goals and Casey Davis had a goal and two assists to lead the Central Red Devils past Brewer.

Goals by Courtney Hersey and Jenny Rollins provided the rest of the offense for 2-2 Central. Jenna Dauphinee saved 10 of 20 shots.

Alex Russell scored an unassisted goal for the 0-2 Witches and Sarah England made 23 saves on 45 shots.

Girls soccer

Presque Isle 5, Hampden 3

At Presque Isle, Rachel Blackstone tallied two goals and Stephanie Holton notched a goal plus an assist for the Wildcats in the win.

Angela Norsworthy and Hilary Harvey added a goal each for 5-0 Presque Isle. Melissa DeMerchant had 13 saves on 17 shots.

Annalise Lafeyette recorded two goals for the 2-2 Broncos, and Lili Berube added another. Morgan Greenlaw stopped 16 out of 29 shots.

JV: Hampden 2-1

Bangor Chr. 5, DI-Stonington 0

At Bangor, Adrienne Recci racked up three goals plus an assist as the Patriots rolled.

Jessica Dougherty notched a goal plus an assist for 3-1 Bangor Christian and Amber Leathers added a goal and two assists. Johanna Kutz blocked six out of eight shots.

Regan Lawry had 14 saves on 21 shots for the 0-3 Mariners.

George Stevens 3, PVHS 0

At Blue Hill, Bethany Roberts had two goals and an assist while Lakiesha Allen had one goal for the 3-0 Eagles.

Liz Tyler saved seven of eight shots for the winners.

For 3-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland, Jen Plourde made eight saves on 13 shots.

MDI 1, Hermon 1 (2OT)

At Mount Desert, the Trojans and Hawks battled to a double-overtime deadlock.

Lucy Shaw scored off a Bekka Paine pass for 0-1-1 MDI. Asia Ross and Jessica Norwood combined to make 15 saves on 18 shots.

Alisa Petrello notched a goal for 1-0-1 Hermon and Shannon Dobbins stopped 14 out of 24 shots.

JV: MDI 3-0

Central 5, Piscataquis 0

At Corinth, Red Devils’ goalie Nicole Daniels stopped all five shots on goal.

Amanda Gray added a goal and two assists for 2-2 Central and Sadie Chrephen had one goal and one assist. Danielle Martin, Malory Jones and Nicole Logue also netted goals.

For the 0-3 Pirates, Myra Littlefield saved 15 of 20 shots.

Penquis 4, Dexter 0

At Milo Thursday, Shannon Gerrish scored two goals, both assisted by Kate Hamlin, to lead the Patriots.

Mindy Dolley and Erin Beasley each added an unassisted goal for the 1-1 winners and goalies Nicole Nason and Michelle Mulherin combined for four saves on four shots.

For 0-1-1 Dexter, Lindsay Burton made 17 saves on 39 shots.

Penquis 6, Schenck 2

At Milo, Erin Beasley tallied two goals plus an assist to lead the Patriots past the Wolverines.

Stephanie Johnson, Shannon Gerrish and Kate Hamlin added single goals for 2-1 Penquis. Nicole Nason stopped eight out of nine shots.

Jessica Day scored both goals for 0-3 Schenck of East Millinocket and Megan Carey had 13 saves on 30 shots.

Lee 2, Katahdin 0

At Sherman Station, Shelby Pickering knocked in two goals and Ashley Gifford assisted on one to lead the Pandas.

Jackie Moors stopped two out of five shots for 3-0 Lee.

Clarissa Gallagher blocked 14 of 33 shots for the 2-3-1 Cougars.

Old Town 4, Fort Kent 1

At Old Town, Katie Bergeron netted three goals as the Indians rolled.

Allison Gallant added a goal and Amber Marble, Hannah Marquis and Heather Surette each had an assist for 1-3 Old Town. Whitney Cerey had six saves on 10 shots.

Gabrielle Cyr scored off a Alision Daigle pass for the 2-3-1 Warriors. Kelsey Bouchard stopped 10 out of 18 shots.

JV: Old Town 1-0

Ellsworth 1, Bucksport 1 (2OT)

At Ellsworth, Bucksport freshman Lindsay Gordon’s unassisted goal with 10:24 left in the first half was the last of the game as the teams settled for a tie.

For the 1-1-1 Golden Bucks, Katie Hurd made 11 saves on 14 shots.

For the 0-2-1 Eagles, freshman Maggie Seavey scored on a Sarah Briggs assist and Victoria Jones saved six of eight shots.
