Nemer, Sherman lift Hornets

ASHLAND – Ashley Nemer made 12 saves on 17 shots for her third shutout of the season as the Ashland girls soccer team picked up a 3-0 victory over Katahdin Monday in high school action.

Caitlin Sherman scored twice, once off a penalty kick and the with an assist from Beth Chamberlin for the 4-0-2 Hornets. Angela Belskis scored on a direct kick from 30 yards out.

Jayme Green and Clarissa Gallagher combined for 12 saves on 15 shots for the 2-4-1 Cougars of Sherman Station.

Houlton 5, Calais 1

At Calais Saturday, Amie McPartland scored two goals and assisted on one to lift the Shiretowners by the Blue Devils.

Clair Thompson added a goal and an assist for the 4-4 winners and Danielle Sewell and Mallory McPartland each chipped in with a goal. Anna Lenentine made three saves on four shots.

For 0-3 Calais, Kayla Cobb scored off a Stephanie Perry pass and Darcey Gillespie made 11 saves on 26 shots.

Easton 3, Washburn 0

At Washburn, Kassie Lovely’s two goals boosted the Bears.

Jessica Ferris and Nina Alexander each contributed an assist for the 3-9 Bears. Briana White stopped 12 of 18 shots.

Amber Palmer made four saves on nine shots for the 1-10 Beavers.

Limestone 1, Ft. Fairfield 1 (2OT)

At Limestone, Dani Searles made six saves on seven shots to help the Tigers to a double-overtime tie against the Eagles.

Ellie Dunn scored for 4-4-2 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Kerri Cunningham netted a goal off an assist from Sheena Escancy for 5-3-2 Fort Fairfield. Mikki Michaud stopped two of three shots.

Bangor 1, Caribou 0

At Bangor Saturday, Caroline Larson scored off a Laura Clarke assist with about 16 minutes left in the first half as the Rams topped the Vikings.

Ilyse Angst saved four of seven shots for 3-0-1 Bangor. Rachel Willey made seven saves on 11 shots.

JV: Bangor 2-1

Woodland 4, East Grand 0

At Danforth, Beth Covey scored two goals as the Dragons shut down the Vikings.

Gena Clark had a goal and an assist for 3-0 Woodland. Alicia Vose added a goal, while Kaitlyn Leeman and Heidi Graceffa each had an assist. Lauren Troiani made three saves on four shots.

Paula Osnoe saved 20 of 26 shots for 0-5 East Grand.

Orono 1, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Lauren Young scored with 28:21 remaining in the second half to lift the Red Riots past the Warriors.

Lindsey Colbath assisted on the game-winner. Marie Lint made five saves on 17 shots for 2-0 Orono.

Rozlyn Peterson stopped six of eight shots for 1-2-1 Nokomis.

Boys soccer

CAHS 5, Limestone/MSSM 0

At Mars Hill, Josh Garrison had a goal and an assist while goalie Adam Crew notched a shutout and scored on a penalty kick to lead Central Aroostook past the Eagles.

Crew saved three of five shots for the 7-2-2 Panthers. Bryan Grew, Jake Delano, Erik Smith and Adam Crew each scored once.

Travis Peers saved 22 of 39 shots for the 0-6-1 Eagles.

Presque Isle 0, Fort Kent 0 (2OT)

At Presque Isle, the 3-0-2 Wildcats and the 5-1-1 Warriors battled to a scoreless draw.

For Presque Isle, Brad Baker had 14 saves on 17 shots.

Derek Plourde saved 17 of 19 shots for Fort Kent.

JV: Fort Kent 3-2

Madawaska 1, Wisdom 0

At Madawaska, Paul Michaud scored off an assist from Myles Morneault power the Owls past the Pioneers.

Jon Cowie stopped four of five shots for 6-3 Madawaska. Kenny Corriveau made 14 saves on 29 shots for 1-7 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

S. Aroostook 13, East Grand 0

At Dyer Brook, Travis Brooker and Edoardo Crotta each has three goals and an assist as the Warriors improved to 3-5-1 on the season.

Evan McGary added two goals, while Tom St. Pierre had a goal and two assists, Jon Holman, Zac Montgomery and Griffin Hardy each had a goal and an assist, and John Boutilier scored a goal.

Boutilier and Zac Stubbs combined to make five saves on six shots for Southern Aroostook. Darius Parker, Eric Hannington and Chris Strout combined to make 18 saves on 50 shots for the 0-4 Vikings of Danforth.

Ashland 3, Katahdin 3 (2OT)

At Ashland, Patrick Willette scored two goals and added an assist for the Cougars as they ended in a tie with the Hornets.

Keith Anderson chipped in with a goal for 0-4-2 Katahdin of Sherman Station. Alex McAvoy had an assist and Burton Braxall made 14 saves on 17 shots.

Alan O’Clair, Josh Chamberland and Josh Eastman each scored for 1-4-1 Ashland. Curtis Belanger stopped three of six shots.

Greenville 3, Valley 3 (2OT)

At Greenville, Travis Hovey scored on a Tyler Giberson assist to lift Valley of Bingham to the tie.

Joey Bishop and P.J. Mathieu also scored goals for Valley, while Giberson finished with two assists.

Jonah Lizotte scored two goals and Kevin mathieu one for Greenville.. Nathan Woodbury had an assist for the Lakers.

Eric Hatfield made 12 saves on 22 shots for 2-0-1 Valley. Brandon Lavigne made six saves on 12 shots for 1-2-1 Greenville.

WA Raiders 7, Calais 0

At East Machias, Lorenzo Burch recorded two goals and an assist as the Raiders shut down the Blue Devils.

Whitney Stevens added two goals for 2-1 Washington Academy. Jared Gray, Aaron Farris and Ryan Harmon each chipped in with a goal. Nicolay Musarskiy had two assists and Nenad Micic had one. Micic and Jeremy Gray combined for nine saves on 14 shots.

Chris Woodside and Devon McPhee combined to make 16 saves on 31 shots for 1-1-2 Calais.

Narraguagus 4, Woodland 2

At Woodland, Saben Rossi had three goals and an assist as the Knights earned their first win of the season.

Gabe Checker had a goal and an assist for Narraguagus of Harrington, while Corey Worcester also had an assist.

Brandon Tomah led Woodland with a goal and an assist, while Aaron Moody scored a goal and Ben Leighton chipped in with an assist.

Josh Look made 11 saves on 13 shots for 1-4 Narraguagus. Brothers Aaron and Craig Moody combined to make 19 saves on 23 shots for 0-2 Woodland.

Machias 4, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Machias, Austin Roberts scored two goals to lead 3-0 Machias to victory.

Patrick McDonald helped with a goal and an assist. Scoring the last goal was Chase Roberts. Jamie McCarthy and Zach McNally also had assists. Keeper Isaiah Roberts saved three of six shots.

Abraham Beal had 16 saves on 24 shots for the 1-2 Jonesport Beals.

Old Town 6, Brewer 0

At Old Town, John Garrity scored twice with assists from Tim Niles as the Indians went to 5-0.

Niles added a goal with an assist from Mike Perkins. Hogan Marguis added two goals and Nate Lonko recorded another. Tyler Tracewski had three saves on six shots.

For the 0-3 Witches Dan Juilli saved 23 of 33 shots.

JV: Old Town 2, Brewer 1

Nokomis 3, Orono 3 (2OT)

At Orono, Matt Thornton scored the tying goal on a Seth Bradstreet assist with 5:13 left in the second half for the Warriors of Newport.

Evan McDaniel and Mike Conrad also scored for Nokomis, while Bryan Hobart had an assist.

Dominique Raschle, Alyosha Klose and Tom Smyth scored goals for the Red Riots. Sam Walton and Tony Raymond each added an assist.

Zach Wing made five saves on 10 shots for 0-3-1 Nokomis. Mat Lint made six saves on nine shots for 1-1-1 Orono.

JV: Orono 4-3
