Warner lifts MMA past Husson

CASTINE – Seth Warner scored three goals as Maine Maritime Academy tipped visiting Husson College 3-2 to earn its first men’s soccer victory of the season.

Warner scored on a Cory Labrecque assist 14 minutes into the match, but goals by David Richard and Kyle James gave Husson a 2-1 halftime lead.

Warner scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the second half, on assists from Anthony Blair and Lebrecque, to return the 1-2-1 Mariners to the lead.

Joshua Heath made six saves on 15 shots for MMA. Matt Goodman made three saves on 10 shots for 3-2 Husson.

UMF 1, Southern Maine 1 (OT)

At Gorham, Andrew Link’s goal midway through the second half rallied the University of Maine at Farmington to the tie.

Ian Doumas had given USM a 1-0 lead earlier in the second half.

Adam Bial assisted on Link’s goal.

Noah Peet made five saves on 12 shots for 1-2-1 UMF. Dan Hills made three saves on nine shots for 1-2-2 USM.

Women’s soccer

Saint Joseph’s 6, Thomas 1

At Waterville, Thomas College scored first, but Saint Joseph’s scored the next six goals.

Karla Emerson, Michelle Crisp, Kelly Cyr, Marissa Regan, Tiffany Merrill and Danielle McLaughlin each scored for Saint Joseph’s of Standish. Danielle Somma and Cyr each had assists. Shana Howard made one save on two shots.

Jasmine Carey scored 20 seconds into the game for Thomas. Jessie Craft faced eight shots and had three saves.
