ORONO – The Scarborough trio of Natasha Levandowski, Heather Hathorn, and Maureen McHugh combined for three goals and two assists to lead the University of Maine to a 5-0 women’s soccer victory over St. Bonaventure Friday.
Freshman Levandowski scored a pair of goals, sophomore Hathorn had her second of the season, and McHugh, also a sophomore, contributed two assists.
Katie Hodge and Emily Stevens had the other goals for the 5-1 Bears, Jessica Wojcik had an assist, and Tanya Adorno made three saves on six shots.
Courtney Nelson and Lisa Eberhart combined for nine saves for 2-5 St. Bonaventure.
Volleyball
Maine drops two
At Orono, Lisa Hunter had 21 kills to help lead the University of Denver past the University of Maine 3-1 in the first match of the Maine Invitational. Yale defeated Maine 3-2 in the second match.
In the first match, Andrea Baron had 14 kills for Denver, and Jen Karas had 13 digs. Ashly Ball had five service aces.
Leah Guidinger led the Black Bears with 14 kills and Kaili Jordan had 18 digs.
In the second match, Jana Freeman led Yale with 20 kills and 17 digs. Jacqueline Becker had 22 digs, and Shannon Farrell had 13 kills.
Jordan had 23 kills and 18 digs for the Black Bears, and Carmen Gabriel had 17 kills and 16 digs.
Field hockey
UM-Farmington 3, Thomas 0
At Waterville, Mary Berry scored a goal and assisted on another to help the University of Maine-Farmington triumph.
Amanda Nimon and Kristy Veazie also scored for UM-Farmington. Angie White and Kristi Cochin both had assists. Ashley Biette stopped both shots that she faced for the 3-0 Beavers.
Jen Lane made 16 saves on 19 shots for 0-2 Thomas College.
