Time to fight drug war

I hear all this talk about a “War on Drugs.” I even attended Sen. Susan Collins’ recent meeting on drugs in Bangor. However, talk, talk, talk and “looking into it” aren’t going to make this go away.

We have lost more young adults to this serious drug problem than we have ever lost in any war. The drug problem is getting worse and hitting younger children every day. And what are we doing? Talking and looking into it. Time is running out.

Yes, I’m scared. I’m a mother of a son with a serious addiction and I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to lose him, he’s my life – but the drugs are taking him away.

I’m only one of many of parents and loved ones who have got to stop hoping the problem will go away on its own. We need to work together, we need to be heard; we all need to take on this war on drugs. I don’t have the answers.
