Whalen scores 5 goals in Dexter victory

DEXTER – Emily Whalen scored a school-record five goals to lead the Dexter Tigers to a 6-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Piscataquis Community Pirates Saturday.

Maria Potter added a goal for 2-7-1 Dexter. Lindsay Burton and Amber Jacobs combined for two saves on three shots.

Jessica Crouse scored for 0-7 Piscataquis of Guilford and Charley Bradford stopped 11 out of 31 shots.

Caribou 5, Foxcroft 1

At Caribou, five different players scored for the Vikings.

Amy Bouchard, Nikole Lopez, Lauren Harrigan, Monica Selander and Stephanie Schofield provided goals while Michelle Ouellette and Amelia Cote had assists. Billie Martin made one save on two shots.

Erica Kaufmann scored off a Brittany Farley pass for the 2-5-1 Ponies. Kate Walsh and Ashley Marden saw 38 shots and saved 13.

Orono 1, Hermon 0

At Orono, Alivia Alford scored the game’s only goal to lift the Red Riots.

Kate Kirby notched an assist for 4-2-1 Orono. Marie Lint stopped seven of 11 shots.

Shannon Dobbins had nine saves on 15 shots for 3-4-1 Hermon.

JV: 0-0

Central 4, Deer Isle-Stonington 0

At Corinth, Mallorie Jones, Sadie Chretien, Lindsey Allen and Ashley Bubar each scored a goaal for the 5-4 Red Devils.

Nicole Daniels saved all nine shots she faced. Regyn Lawry made seven saves on 17 shots for the Mariners.

Field hockey

Central 2, Mattanawcook 1 (OT)

At Corinth, Casey Davis shot in the winning goal off an assist by Courtney Hersey in overtime.

Jenny Rollins scored with an assist from Shawna Bell. Tiffany Tilton made six saves on seven shots for the 6-2 Red Devils.

Shannon Pietras scored Mattanawcook’s only goal, assisted by Jade Littlefield. Melanie Markee saved two of 21 shots for the 4-3 Lynx.

JV: Mattanawcook 2-0

Dexter 7, Piscataquis 0

At Dexter, Meagan Fogarty racked up four goals to lead the Tigers.

Brittany Veazie added two goals and Nikki Chapman added one. Sarah Wyman chipped in with three assists and Cindy Koscielmy saved two shots for 8-0 Dexter.

Amy Knowlton saved 23 of 41 shots for the Pirates.

JV: Piscataquis 3-0

Boys soccer

Dexter 2, Penquis 0

At Dexter, Jeremy Kenney scored a goal in each half as the Tigers blanked the Patriots.

Luke Marquis had an assist for Dexter and Sam Bowers faced 17 shots and saved 12.

Kevin Nason stopped 13 out of 24 shots for Penquis of Milo.

Caribou 2, Foxcroft 0

At Caribou, David Levasseur scored an unassisted goal to lift Caribou past Foxcroft.

Andrew Cashman added a goal and Eric Mowatt an assist for the 5-3-2 Vikings. Micah Maurio and Brad Ala made six saves on 12 shots between them.

Brad Bellemare saw 16 shots and saved four for the 0-7 Ponies.

Bangor Christian 1, Lee 0

At Bangor, Josh Griffin scored off a pass from Anthony Cole in the first half as the Patriots edged Lee.

D.J. McCleary made 19 saves on 22 shots for 3-5 Bangor Christian. Kris King stopped 13 out of 19 shots for the 6-3 Pandas.

JV: Lee 4-0

Bangor 5, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Sam Boss tallied two goals and Omar Carter notched a goal plus an assist to lead the Rams.

Sean Boley and Dan Malmer added goals while Adam Towne and Dylan George notched assists for 5-3 Bangor. Austin Smith had seven saves on 10 shots.

Brandon Donaldson stopped 14 of 25 shots for the 1-7-1 Warriors.

JV: Bangor 8-0

Hermon 3, Orono 0

At Hermon, Wyatt Sabo racked up a goal and an assist as the Hawks rolled to victory.

Adam Gould and Jason Shoery each added goal and Joey Carmichel had an assist. Corey Archer stopped four shots goal for 5-1-1 Hermon.

Matt Lint saved 14 of 17 shots for the 3-4-1 Red Riots.

JV: Orono 1-0

Central 4, Deer Isle-Stonington 2

At Corinth, Jimmy Connolly knocked in three goals to lead Central to a 4-2 win.

Josh Underhill added a goal and assist. Tristan Strout helped with an assist. Joey Kane made 13 saves on 16 shots for the 2-6 Red Devils.

Bryant Ciomei scored both goals for the 3-4-2 Mariners. Rob Haskell saved 20 of 25 shots.

Searsport 4, Calvary Chapel 1

At the Pendleton Street Field in Brewer, Matt Nickerson scored three goals as Searsport improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

Drew Mercier added one goal for Searsport, which outscored Calvary Chapel 3-0 in the second half.

Brock Bradford scored for Calvary Chapel.

Searsport goalie Jake Manner stopped 12 of 15 shots. Tyler Genz saved 15 of 21 shots for 4-3 Calvary Chapel.
