ORONO – Senior fullback Jonathan Smith ran for 199 yards on just 12 carries and scored three second half touchdowns as Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield triumphed 27-0 over Orono in football action Friday night.
Kevin Williams, who ran for 70 yards on 10 carries before pulling a hamstring in the fourth quarter, scored on a four-yard run in the first quarter.
Smith gave MCI some breathing room with an 80-yard gallop in the third quarter, heading around right end and cutting back against the grain.
He added 11 and five-yard TD runs in the fourth quarter.
Smith also anchored the defense from his middle linebacker spot. He and tackle John Juneau were the defensive catalysts as MCI limited Orono to 37 total yards.
Junior tailback Joe Fullwood was Orono’s leading rusher with 32 yards on 15 carries. Tackle Nick LaGrande and linebacker Ryan Levesque were in on 10 tackles apiece for Orono.

At Madison, Matt Stewart ran 63 yards on 20 carries and scored a touchdown to lead Madison to its third win of the season.
Justin Watt threw an 18-yard pass to Paul Brousseau to score a touchdown for the Bulldogs and Allen Berry recovered a fumble and ran four yards for another score.
Scott Wetherall caught a 29-yard pass from Jameson Henderson to score a touchdown for Dirigo-Buckfield.

At Lincoln, tailback Tyler Gardner gained 137 yards on 18 carries and scored one touchdown to help lead the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx past Maranacook of Readfield.
Gardner also led the defense with 11 tackles and two fumble recoveries. The Hanscom brothers also played a key role for the 2-2 MA Lynx as Dustin ran for a score and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Dylan and Dylan threw for two more. Justin Bard had nine tackles and sophomore Jason Murchison had seven.
Sean Labbe scored the lone touchdown for the Black Bears with a 35-yard pass reception from Kyle Jarvis in the fourth quarter.

At Old Town, Josh Aldus had 150 yards and scored five touchdowns to lead Belfast to the Lions’ fourth straight win.
Andy Whalen ran it in from one yard out to score for Belfast and Marcus Nadeau rushed two yards for the touchdown. Garren Horn ran 75 yards to score on a kickoff return.
Lions’ quarterback Nick Arthers did not play in the game due to an injury suffered to his non-throwing shoulder in practice this week.

Dylan Veilleux ran one yard to score for Waterville. Brian Tromollan had eight receptions for 74 yards.
