Pandas cruise past Warriors

LEE – Shelby Pickering scored three goals and chipped in with four assists as the undefeated Lee Academy girls soccer team rolled to an 8-0 win over Southern Aroostook Monday in high school action.

Ashlee Gifford contributed three goals and two assists for the 9-0 Pandas, and Lisa Bouchard also scored a goal. Amy Lane and Cassandra Thompson combined for four saves on five shots.

Erin Caswell stopped 10 of 24 shots for the 4-7-1 Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Ellsworth 8, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Tessa Miller, Emma Klemon and Cherry Gammelin each scored twice as the Eagles rolled.

Sara Briggs and Ashley Olsen also scored for 2-3-3 Ellsworth, while Victoria Jones saved all four shots she faced.

Kylie Bragdon made 14 saves on 35 shots for the Tigers.

Searsport 4, Bucksport 2

At Bucksport, Nori Metzger had two goals and two assists, and Shanna Murphy scored the eventual game-winner, as the Vikings earned a win in the back-and-forth battle.

Murphy scored her winner with 12:41 left in the second half. Metzger assisted on that goal, as well as a first-half score by Theresa Cameron. Metzger’s first-half goal broke a 1-1 tie, and her second-half goal gave the 6-1 Vikings some insurance. Mo Hall made nine saves on 15 shots.

Lindsey Gordon scored twice and Brittni Adams had two assists for the 4-3-1 Golden Bucks. Katie Hurd stopped six of seven shots.

MDI 2, George Stevens 0

At Blue Hill, Sarah March scored twice and Jessica Norwood stopped all 10 shots she faced as the 2-4-2 Trojans posted a shutout.

Liz Tyler made 12 saves on 15 shots for the 4-2-1 Eagles.

JV: MDI 4-0

Penquis 5, Bangor Christian 2

At Milo, Kate Hamlin scored two goals and Erin Beasley added a goal and an assist as Penquis improved to 8-1.

Kristin Burch and Christina Gerrish also scored for the Patriots, while Erika Morrill and Heather Dolley each added an assist.

Brittany Jago had a goal and an assist for Bangor Christian, while Amber Leathers had a goal.

Nicole Nason made eight saves on 11 shots for Penquis. Johannah Kutz made nine saves on 26 shots for 3-6 Bangor Christian.

John Bapst 1, Brewer 0

At Bangor, Hayley Cutri scored the game’s only goal as the 4-3-1 Crusaders edged the Witches.

Ashley Pearson stopped six of the seven shots for John Bapst. Katie Harris made 24 saves on 26 shots for 1-7 Witches.

PVHS 1, PCHS 1 (2OT)

At Guilford, Penobscot Valley’s Ashley Dawson scored the game-tying goal with 13:40 left in regulation, but the Howlers and the Pirates played to a double-overtime tie.

Stephanie Taylor’s first-half goal gave 0-7-1 Piscataquis an early lead. Jess Crouse assisted on the goal. Alicia Nelson made 14 saves on 15 shots.

Jen Plourde made four saves on five shots for 4-3-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Boys soccer

Oak Hill 2, MCI 1

At Pittsfield, Pat Duchette and Jason Auesette each scored a goal in the second half as the Raiders of Sabattus edged the Huskies.

Matt Eaton added an assist and John Daggett had 12 saves on 16 shots for 1-8 Oak Hill.

Jason Yim scored in the first half for 1-7-1 Maine Central Institute. Greg Duffley stopped five of eight shots.

JV: 0-0

Jonesport-Beals 2, Woodland 1

At Jonesport, Kimangi Gathage scored an unassisted goal with 46 seconds left in the second half to lift Jonesport-Beals to victory.

The Royals’ Peter Barton and Woodland’s Adam Knowles each scored an unassisted goal in the first half.

Abraham Beal made five saves on eight shots for 2-3-1 Jonesport-Beals. Aaron Moody made seven saves on 16 shots for 1-6 Woodland.
