Searsport tops DI-S for 7th

BREWER – Josh McFarlin scored a goal and notched two assists to lead the Searsport Viking to a 3-1 schoolboy soccer victory over the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners Tuesday.

Ryan Shute and Mike Libby each scored for the 7-1-1 Vikings. Drew Mercer provided an assist and Jake Manner stopped eight of nine shots.

Bryant Ciomei scored on a Doug Hansen assist in the second half for 3-5-2 Deer Isle-Stonington and Robbie Haskell made 17 saves on 20 attempts.

Bangor 2, Hampden Acad. 1

At Bangor, Dan Malmer scored an unassisted goal with 20 minutes left to lift the Rams to their fourth straight victory.

Malmer’s goal came on a 25-yard shot low to the right corner of the goal.

The teams were tied 1-1 at intermission. Adam Towne gave Bangor a 1-0 lead on a Dylan George assist, but Hampden’s Alex Wiken tied the match on a Billy Shannon assist.

Austin Smith made six saves on 11 shots for 6-3 Bangor. Kenny Mayo made three saves on 11 shots for 5-4 Hampden.

JV: Hampden 2-1

Presque Isle 5, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Trevor Graves netted two goals to help lead Presque Isle to its seventh win.

Brandon Hale and Greg Whitaker each scored a goal and assisted on another for the Wildcats. Benji Lynch scored the other goal while Chris Carlin and Nate Carter had assists. Sean Daigle stopped 10 of 15 shots for 7-1-2 Presque Isle.

Brendan Donaldson made 12 saves on 23 attempts for 1-8-1 Nokomis.

Islesboro 7, Liberty 0

At Islesboro, Nick Porter scored three times to lead Islesboro past Liberty of Blue Hill.

T.L. Tutor netted two goals for the Eagles and Collin Schmidt and Nate Gorham each scored. Buddy Bebb made five saves on seven shots for 3-3 Islesboro.

Ian Riley saved 15 of 33 shots for 0-5 Liberty.

Ellsworth 7, Sumner 0

At Ellsworth, Kris Tracy scored two goals to help lead the Eagles past Sumner.

Noah Brown, Matt Burns, Tom Burns, Alex Wentworth, and Demetrious Katsiaficas all scored a goal for 8-0-1 Ellsworth. Jay Duhaime and Cory Smith combined to make one save on two shots.

Mason Young, Cory Falabella, and John Naumann combined to save 14 of 36 attempts for 1-6 Sumner.

Field hockey

Mount View 2, MCI 0

At Pittsfield, Lindsey Hunter scored a pair of unassisted goals in the first half for the Mustangs of Mount View.

Megan Carman made six saves on eight shots for 5-2-1 Mount View. Courtney Howe made 14 saves on 17 shots for 2-7 Maine Central Institute.

Belfast 2, Maranacook 0

At Belfast, Britt Reed scored twice to push Belfast to their seventh win on the year.

Celia Grotz assisted Reed’s first goal and Britt Cummings and Sara Flagg each aided Reed’s second goal. Amanda Littlefield recorded her fourth shutout by stopping all nine shots that she faced for 7-2 Belfast.

Haley Schwartz made 10 saves on 12 shots for 2-6-1 Maranacook of Readfield.

Orono 1, PCHS 0

At Orono, Emily Sypher’s unassisted first-half goal off a goalmouth scramble and Ana Blagojevic’s 10 saves enabled Orono to avenge an earlier 3-0 setback.

Central 1, Nokomis 0

At Corinth, Kristina Gallagher’s goal 10:24 into the game and Tiffany Tilton’s three saves on 15 shots powered Central past Nokomis of Newport for its seventh win against two setbacks.

Casey Davis fed Gallagher in front after retrieving Jenny Rollins’ wide shot off a Traci Underhill penalty corner.

Kristen Gould made 33 saves for 3-5 Nokomis.

JV: Central 2-1

Leavitt 2, Camden Hills 1 (2OT)

At Camden, Sam St. Hilaine scored the game-winning goal with 1:17 left to give Leavitt the double overtime win.

Jen Gondeck scored on a St. Hilaine assist in the second half to tie the game for 6-2 Leavitt. Kelly Campbell made five saves on six shots.

Lindsay Clement netted a goal in the first half on a Julie Vandersloot assist for 1-7-1 Camden Hills. Georgia Smith stopped 15 of 17 shots.

JV: Leavitt 1-0

Girls soccer

Camden Hills 3, Erskine Acad. 0

At Camden, Claire Neville scored an unassisted goal in the first half to help push Camden Hills to the win.

Kayla Gushee and Caitlin Brown also scored for the Windjammers. Tana Scott had an assist and Beth Herron stopped all six shots she faced for 8-1 Camden Hills in collecting her sixth shutout.

Shannon Proctor made seven saves on 13 attempts for 6-4 Erskine Academy.

JV: Camden Hills 1-0

Woodland 2, ‘Guagus 2 (2OT)

At Harrington, Alicia Vose scored the game-tying goal off a Katlin Leeman assist with five minutes left in the second half.

Vose and Leeman teamed up again to score 6-1-1 Woodland’s first goal in the first half. Lauren Troiani saved 10 of 12 shots.

Hailey Torre scored a goal and assisted on Missy Barbee’s goal for 5-1-1 Narraguagus. Alicia Tenney made 13 saves on 17 shots.
