HANOVER, N.H. – Rachael Hilgar scored her second goal of the game on a breakaway with 5:49 left in the second overtime to lift the University of Maine field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Dartmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
Hilgar scored Maine’s first goal with 2:45 left in the first half. Dartmouth responded in the second when Jessica Saraceno scored off a rebound from a penalty corner shot by Nina Fulmer.
Goalie Jaye Lance made seven saves on 11 shots for the 8-2 Black Bears and stopped a penalty stroke by Kelly Storer in the first overtime.
Lauren Balukjian made four saves on 12 shots for the 0-7 Big Green.
Plymouth St. 3, So. Maine 2
At Plymouth, N.H., Melanie Bates scored the game-winner late in the second half and Amanda Gutowski added two more as the Panthers edged the Huskies.
Kerry Brady made seven saves on nine shots for the 3-4 winners.
Deedra Boudreau and Renee Heath had the goals for 7-3 Southern Maine of Gorham. Darci Holland added an assist. Jessie Superchi stopped six of eight shots.
Gordon 5, Saint Joseph’s 2
At Standish, Davan Clawson scored less than a minute into the game for the Monks but Gordon scored three unanswered goals to pull away.
Brianna Riddell had four saves for the 7-5 Scots. Brittany Nanni registered two goals.
Clawson added a goal later in the half for 2-8 Saint Joseph’s. Kim Lajoie had two assists. Jessica LaFlamme made eight saves.
Men’s soccer
MMA 1, Saint Joseph’s 1 (2OT)
At Castine, Joe Stevens scored off a pass from Harrison Deah with 20 minutes remaining to lift the Monks of Standish into the tie with Maine Maritime Academy.
Seth Warner scored for the 1-4-2 Mariners in the first half off a Joe Flagg assist. Goalkeeper Joshua Heath made nine saves on 20 shots.
Jeff Yeager made seven saves on 14 shots for 1-7-3 Saint Joseph’s.
Bowdoin 5, UM-Farmington 0
At Brunswick, Andrew Russo scored two goals, one off a penalty kick, to lift the Polar Bears by the Beavers.
Bobby Desilets, Joe Adu and Kevin Mullins each added a goal for 4-1-2 Bowdoin. Dan Hackett (two saves), Lucas Bare (three) and Greg Levin (one) combined for the shutout.
For 3-3-2 UMaine-Farmington, Seabren Reeves made 11 saves and Erik Staling came on in the final 20 minutes to make two.
Colby 2, Southern Maine 1
At Waterville, Donnie O’Callahan scored with just over a minute to play in the second half to lift the White Mules to the win.
Ryan Bocuzzi converted a penalty kick in the first half for 4-1-1 Colby. Brian Davidson didn’t have to make any saves. He faced two shots.
Ian Frank scored for 2-5-2 Southern Maine of Gorham. Dan Hills stopped three of six shots.
Women’s soccer
MMA 2, Saint Joseph’s 2 (2OT)
At Castine, Jessie Taylor and Amy Asselin notched a goal each for 5-5-1 Maine Maritime. Meghan Marshall registered seven saves.
Kelly Cyr had two goals for 2-7-1 Saint Joseph’s of Standish. Shana Howard and Cheryl Northrop had 10 saves between them.
