Searsport defeats Dexter, now 8-1

SEARSPORT – Nori Metzger, Abby Tripp and Brittani Frisbie scored one goal apiece Wednesday afternoon to lead Searsport to a 3-1 girls high school soccer victory over Dexter.

Mo Hall made two saves on five shots for Searsport, which pushed its record to 8-1.

Emily Whalen scored an unassisted goal for the 2-7-1 Tigers. Lindsay Burton stopped 12 of 22 shots.

Winslow 5, Mount View 1

At Thorndike, Brittany Morin scored four goals to lead the Black Raiders past Mount View.

Brynne Davis added a goal for 9-1 Winslow. Marie McClaire had eight saves on 12 shots.

Holly Whitcomb scored off a pass from Violet Soisson assist for the 2-8 Mustangs. Meghan Behmeyer stopped nine of 26 shots.

Valley 5, Averill 0

At Bingham, Kristin Baker scored two goals to help lead the Cavaliers.

Whitney Strickland, Melanie Vicneire and Emma McAllister each added a goal for the 2-6-1 winners and Lera McCandless notched an assist. Loretta Fitzmaurice made three first-half saves and Vicneire made four in the second.

Kayla Beauleau made 18 saves for 0-7 Averill of Hinckley.

Dirigo 5, Carrabec 0

At North Anson, Brooke Weston racked up four goals and Kassi Putnam chipped in with a goal and assist as the Cougars of Dixfield rolled.

Jesica Blaisdell made two saves on six shots for 4-4 Dirigo.

Ashley Zikorus and Amy Campbell combined to make eight saves on 23 shots.

JV: 1-1

MDI 4, Bucksport 0

At Bucksport, Lucy Shaw picked up a pair of goals as the Trojans blanked the Bucks.

Nora Miller and Tessa Jones added goals and Bekka Paine an assist for 3-5-1 Mount Desert Island. Jessica Norwood made five saves on eight shots.

Alice Andrews faced 14 shots and made nine saves for 4-4-1 Bucksport.

Belfast 4, Rockland 0

At Rockland, Sam Ellis and Katie Nickerson had a goal and an assist apiece as the Lions improved to 9-0.

Abi Maycock scored the lone goal in the first half before Ellis, Nickerson and Cali Slaughter added second-half goals.

Caitlin Cross had an assist and Bryna Harrington made one save.

Rebekah Rhodes made 15 saves for 2-7 Rockland.

Boys soccer

Piscataquis 3, Foxcroft 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Joe Jardine scored two goals as the Pirates blanked the Ponies.

Dan Rockwell added a goal for 8-0-1 Piscataquis of Guilford while Ryan Bush and Don Rockwell had assists. Josh Luellen had 12 saves on 14 shots.

Brad Bellemare and Albert Kim combined to make 10 saves on 15 shots for 0-9 Foxcroft.

MDI 1, George Stevens 1 (2OT)

At Mount Desert, the Trojans and Eagles played to a stalemate through two overtimes.

Richard Hilliard scored off a pass from Tristan Birkenmeier for 5-2-2 MDI. Dan Lyons had 12 saves on 13 shots.

Blake Wessel notched a goal for 4-4-2 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and James Lansing had an assist. Mark Ensworth stopped seven of 17 shots.

JV: George Stevens 1-0

Belfast 4, Rockland 0

At Belfast, ‘keeper Collin Cunning converted a penalty kick and stopped all three shots he faced as the Lions rolled.

Diego Olivares, Caleb Barnaby and Chris Williams added goals and Aaron Cross and Derek Kelly assists for 7-2 Belfast.

Ryan Down had 17 saves on 29 shots for the 3-6 Tigers.

JV: Belfast 2-1

Machias 7, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Jonesport, Austin Roberts posted a goal and an assist to pace the well-balanced Bulldogs to victory over the Royals.

Kenneth Morse, Thomas Buck, Chris Correll, Zac McNally, Jamie McCarthy and Shawn Robbins scored one goal apiece for 8-0 Machias. Patrick McDonald provided two assists, while Cory Brooks and Ryan Murray added one each.

Marcus Frutchey made five saves on nine shots.

Abraham Beal came up with 13 saves on 22 shots for 2-5-1 Jonesport-Beals.

Field hockey

Dexter 8, Foxcroft 0

At Dexter, Meagan Fogarty scored three times and assisted on two other goals as the unbeaten Tigers rolled.

Vanessa Hartford and Sarah Wyman each scored two goals and posted an assist for 9-0 Dexter. Keriann Patterson added a goal, while Brittany Veazie contributed two assists. Nikki Chapman and Kristina Temple added one each.

Cindy Koscielny made six saves on six shots.

Ashley Smith came up with 15 saves on 23 shots for 6-3 Foxcroft Academy.

Old Town 2, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Kitty Campbell stopped all eight shots she faced to record the shutout for the Indians.

Amanda Littlefield and Sulva Bray scored the goals for 3-7 Old Town.

Megan McCready saved four out of six shots for the 1-7 Hawks.

JV: Hermon 1-0
