The Husson College field hockey team improved to 5-3 over the weekend after a 3-2 overtime win over Western New England Sunday and a 3-0 victory over Castleton State Saturday.
At Springfield, Mass. Sunday, Karole Anne Emery scored the game-winner with 9:52 remaining in overtime to lift the Braves of Bangor to the win.
Jennifer Comeau and Nikki Corson added goals and Sara McIntire an assist for 5-3 Husson. Jamie Giles and Shani Hollins made 10 saves between them.
Nicole DeRosa and Bethany Fleck scored for 3-7 Western New England. Melissa Ezold and Jillian Brown made seven saves.
At Castleton, Vt. Saturday, Sara McIntire, Amanda Brown and Lindsay Choate had a goal each as the Braves prevailed.
Emery had two assists and Amy McDaniel one for 5-3 Husson. Giles and Hollins combined for 17 saves.
Ohio State 2, Maine 1 (OT)
At College Park, Md., Saturday, Vanessa Immordino scored both goals for the Buckeyes, including the game-winner 1:14 into overtime.
Both goals were unassisted. Lindsay Williams had two saves on six shots for the 7-3 winners.
Annie Dubois scored for the 7-3 Black Bears and Emily Dooling had the assist. Jaye Lance stopped seven out of 19 shots.
Maine 3, UMBC 1
At Baltimore Sunday, Karyn Mango registered a pair of goals and Amie Dubois notched a goal and two assists as the Black Bears clawed their way past Maryland-Baltimore County.
Jaye Lance made six saves on 14 shots for 9-3 Maine.
Kristi Troster scored an unassisted goal for the 1-8 Retrievers. Meghan Folek stopped six out of 12 shots.
UM-Farmington 3, Lasell 0
At Farmington, Amanda Nimon scored the only goal Ashleigh Biette would need as UMaine-Farmington blanked Lasell.
Mary Sinclair and Dorice Reitchel scored in the second half for 6-3 UMF. Kristy Veazie had two assists. Biette stopped all six shots she faced.
Linda Williams stopped 25 out of 30 shots for 4-5 Lasell.
UM-Farmington 6, Wheelock 1
At Farmington Sunday, Dorice Reitchel had a goal and two assists to lead the Beavers.
Angie White notched a goal plus an assist for 6-3 UM-Farminton. Lauren Stevens, Kristy Veazie and Ashley Thayer added goals and Kristi Cochin and Linda Nguyen assists. Ashleigh Biette stopped two out of three shots.
Alicia Lundgren scored off a pass from Jocelyn Emerson for 0-7 Wheelock. Michelle Herbert had 25 saves on 33 shots.

Maine Maritime 3, Becker 2 (OT)
At Castine Sunday, Seth Warner scored off assists from Anthony Blair and Derek Keenan 5:19 into overtime to lift the Mariners to victory.
Warner also assisted a Joe Flagg goal and Andrew Pease scored off a Steve Sullivan setup for 2-5-2 Maine Maritime Academy. Josh Heath made six saves on 11 shots.
Alcy Riche and Chris Puffer scored a goal each for 3-9 Becker. Adam Bouche made seven saves on 22 shots.
Albany 2, Maine 0
At Albany, N.Y., Saturday, Yan Gbolo and Vadin Ivanyushchenko each had goals for Albany.
Peter Squeglia and Savvaas Theofilou added assists for the 4-4-2 Great Danes. Bouna Coundoul made nine saves on 16 shots.
Chad Mongeon had three saves on 12 shots for 4-5-1 Maine.

At Bangor Saturday, Shane Coffin scored the game-winner three minutes into the second overtime to lift Husson.
Lee Bennett tallied an unassisted goal for the 5-4 Braves while Kyle James scored off an assist from Michael Deneal. Matt Goodman had five saves on 10 shots.
Adam Bacher stopped 13 out of 20 shots for 3-8 Becker.
Elms 4, Husson 1
At Bangor Sunday, Michael Lima registered two goals and two assists to lead Elms past Husson.
Josh McConnell had eight saves on 10 shots for 7-1 Elms.
Steve Coffin scored 5-5 Husson’s goal with Kyle James getting the assist. Matt Goodman stopped eight out of 17 shots.
SMCC 3, EMCC 1
At Bangor, Sergey Fillok scored two goals to lead 6-2 Southern Maine Community College to the win.
Ralph Conant also added a goal and John Bernard made nine saves on 15 shots.
Daryl Watson scored for 1-5 EMCC and Ryan Masse made 13 saves on 18 shots.
UM-Farmington 6, Johnson St. 0
At Farmington, all six goals for UMF were scored by different players.
Jeff Beck scored once and added one assist. Pat Dugas, Jeff Taterczuk, Andrew Link, Scott Tardiff and Nate Ghelli each scored. Miles Levy, Chris Vigezzi, Adam Zukowski, and Matt Gates helped with assists. Joe Conway had two assists. Noah Peet, Eric Stailing and Seabren Reeves combined for one save on three shots for 5-4-1 Farmington.
For 6-6-1 Johnson State, Matt O’Brien faced 19 shots with 6 saves.
UM-Farmington 4, Casleton St. 2
At Farmington, Jeff Beck and Zach Pettit both scored two goals each for 4-4-1 Farmington.
Beck and Jeff Tatarcz assisted. Noah Peet made nine saves on 13 shots.
Luke Laroche made both of 5-6 Casleton State’s goals unassisted. Joel Leichtnman faced 19 shots with 10 saves.

At Farmington Saturday, Erin Campbell scored the game-winner with 15 minutes to play in the second half for the University of Maine-Farmington.
Julia Malek tied the game with a goal off an assist from Jodie Welch for 5-2 UM-Farmington. Katie Ferguson scored for 7-5 Castleton State.
UMF 6, Johnson State 0
At Farmington Sunday, Billie Jo Putnam and Patty Boutin and the UFM defense didn’t allow a shot by Johnson State in the shutout.
Erin Campbell had a goal plus an assist to lead the offense for 6-2 UM-Farmington. Jodie Welch, Erin Fordham, Addie Price, Kelsey Bird and Julia Malek each had a goal.
Maine Maritime 4, Becker 1
At Castine on Sunday, Ashley Brooker scored a goal and set up two others, all in the second half, as the Mariners prevailed.
Stacy Jones, Jessie Taylor and Amy Asselin scored one goal apiece for 7-1-1 Maine Maritime Academy. Jones and Kristin Gaylord added assists behind Meghan Marshall, who made 11 saves on 16 shots.
Sara Valley scored for 3-7 Becker and Heather Beaudoin made 24 saves on 28 shots.
Husson 4, Elms 0
At Bangor Sunday, Bee Deycaza and Deidra Ham each had a goal and two assists as the Braves scored all their goals in the second half to top Elms.
Kristen Pelletier and Jane Michaud added goals and May Chan an assist for 7-3 Husson. Leah Drew stopped all 12 shots she faced.
Lauren Stauch had 13 saves on 21 shots for 3-7 Elms.
Maine 1, BU 1 (2OT)
At Orono, Melissa Shulman blasted in a goal from 10 yards out for Boston University to tie up the game with 21 minutes left in the first half.
Katie Hodge scored 16 minutes into the game for the 7-1-1 Black Bears. Tanya Adorno made three saves on four shots.
Jessica Clinton faced six shots with five saves for 6-3-3 BU.
Volleyball
Maine places 2nd in tourney
At Princess Anne, Md., the University of Maine’s volleyball team followed up a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore with a 3-0 victory over Coppin State on Saturday.
Maine wound up Gardner Sign Hawk Challenge with a 3-1 record and second-place finish. Maryland-Eastern Shore won with a 4-0 mark. Maine outside hitter Alaina Kleparek and junior middle blocker Brittany Howe of Columbia were named to the all-tournament first team. Sophomore outside hitter Kaili Jordon and sophomore middle blocker Leah Guidinger were second team picks.
The Black Bears downed 2-16 Coppin State 30-6, 30-22, and 30-17 as senior Kleparek had a team-high 11 kills. Guidinger had 10 kills as the Bears finished with 49 to Coppin State’s 23.
In the other match, the Bears topped the 14-8 Hawks in kills, 49 to 45, as Guidinger led the team with 17 and Kleparek totaled 11, but Jana Milin’s 19-kill effort and 12 digs helped lead the Hawks to the win. Aja Smith had 10 kills and seven digs. Tourney MVP Sanda Dzile had 36 sets.
Shelly Seipp had 45 sets and Justine Chabot 38 in the two matches for the 9-11 Black Bears.
