ORONO – Senior midfielder Katie Hodge scored two minutes into the game, giving the University of Maine the only goal it would need to beat Northeastern 1-0 in an America East women’s soccer game Friday afternoon.
Coach Scott Atherley’s UMaine squad improved to 8-1-1 overall, 2-0-1 in conference play, while moving into a first-place tie in America East. The eight wins are a program record.
Sophomore midfielder Angela Clark assisted on the goal. Tanya Adorno made five saves on eight shots to make Hodge’s goal stand up.
Cynthia Slowik made three saves on eight shots for the Huskies (7-5, 2-1).

Northeastern 3, Maine 0
At Boston, Whitney Turner had 14 kills and 10 digs to help Northeastern University beat the University of Maine 30-28, 30-23, 30-14.
Larissa Adomat had 11 kills for 14-6 Northeastern. Ashley Adamczyk had 11 digs while Rebecca Holland and Kristin Ursillo each had 10 digs.
Kaili Jordan had seven kills and 10 digs for the 9-13 Black Bears. Alaina Kleparek had nine kills and Leah Guidinger had eight kills. Justine Chabot came up with 10 digs.
