Barbee scores three goals as ‘Guagus rolls

HARRINGTON – Missy Barbee scored three goals to lead the Narraguagus Knights to a 5-0 schoolgirl soccer win over the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners Friday.

Amanda Kennedy netted a goal and made an assist for the Knights. Amanda Cirone scored a goal and Hailey Torrey had two assists. Alicia Tenney stopped eight of nine shots for 7-2-1 Narraguagus.

Regan Lawry made 14 saves on 21 shots for 3-9 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Washington Acad. 1, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Sarah Rushforth scored the game-winning goal off a Jay Grannis assist with 12.8 seconds remaining to give Washington Academy of East Machias the win.

Meghan Look stopped 17 of 21 shots for 5-6 Washington Academy.

Whitney Page made seven saves on 10 shots for 1-10 Sumner.

Shead 0, Woodland 0 (2OT)

At Woodland, Lauren Troiani stopped all seven shots she faced for 9-1-2 Woodland to claim her eighth shutout as the teams battled to a scoreless tie through two overtimes.

Brittany Cox made eight saves on 13 shots for 6-4-1 Shead of Eastport.

Nokomis 3, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Kristina Gonzales scored on a Miranda Picard assist to help lead Nokomis to the victory.

Amy Preble and Aimee Paradis each scored a goal for 6-6-1 Nokomis of Newport and Rozlyn Peterson stopped seven of 10 shots.

Katie Harris blocked 20 of 23 attempts for 1-11-1 Brewer.

Greenville 1, Buckfield 0

At Buckfield, Hannah Breton scored 30 minutes into the first half to give the Lakers the win.

Kristen Sutherland picked up the assist on Breton’s goal, which came from about 15 yards out directly in front of the net. Beth Bartley turned back three of the four shots she faced for 11-0-1 Greenville.

Shayna Shackford made 18 saves on 30 shots for 4-7-1 Buckfield.

John Bapst 4, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Evelyn Sharkey netted two unassisted goals to help John Bapst of Bangor top the Ponies.

Lily Krichels and Hailey Cutri scored goals for the 6-5-1 Crusaders, and Caroline Cassing stopped six of 10 attempts.

Lindsey Chase scored a goal for 2-8-2 Foxcroft Academy and Katie Walsh made 13 saves on 18 shots.

Field hockey

Hampden 2, Stearns 1

At Hampden, Amy Ryder scored the game-winning goal, unassisted, with 20 seconds left in the game to give Hampden Academy the win.

Erika Veinote scored on a Gretchen Lescord assist with 23:33 left in the first half for 7-5 Hampden. Hannah Thieme stopped eight of nine shots.

Trisha McDonald scored off a Holly Franck assist with 24 minutes left in the first for 7-6 Stearns of Millinocket. Rachel Deabay made 20 saves on 22 shots.

JV: Stearns 1-0

Piscataquis 1, Mattanawcook 0

At Guilford, Shannon Ortiz converted a Nicole Santos pass with 3:42 left in the first half, providing the Pirates with the only goal they would need.

Amy Knowlton made two saves on four shots for 6-6 Piscataquis Community.

Colleen Cloran made nine saves on 12 shots for 6-6-1 Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Boys soccer

Nokomis 3, Brewer 0

At Newport, Matt Thornton scored two goals, both on Seth Bradstreet assists, to lead Nokomis to the shutout win over Brewer.

Josh Vile netted a goal off a Mike Conrad assist for 2-10-1 Nokomis, and Brendan Donaldson made seven saves on 10 shots.

Ben Davis turned away 11 of 19 attempts for 1-12 Brewer.

Orono 5, Bucksport 1

At Orono, Tom Smyth scored three goals and assisted on another as Orono improved to 4-6-1.

Alyosha Klose had a goal and an assist for the Riots and Travis King scored the other goal.

Robbie Pushard scored for Bucksport off a Blake Murch pass.

Orono’s Mat Lint made five saves while Andrew Johnson had 11 stops for the 0-11 Bucks.

Seacoast Christian 5, Islesboro 0

At North Berwick, Adam MacDonall scored two goals to help lead Seacoast Christian to the win.

Adam Flint, Andre Laplante, Harrison Gupillo each had a goal for 8-2 Seacoast Christian. Blake Watterson and Jamie Sharp both had an assist. Nick Trafton stopped one of four shots.

Buddy Bebb made 16 saves on 31 shots for 4-4 Islesboro.

Penquis 4, Searsport 2

At Searsport, Justin Allen scored three unassisted goals during a 22-minute span of the second half to power the Patriots to victory.

Jordan Allen scored the other goal for 4-6-2 Penquis of Milo. Kevin Nason made eight saves on 18 shots.

Josh McFarlin scored on a penalty kick and Caleb Ashey tallied an unassisted goal for 10-2-2 Searsport. Jake Manner made six saves on 11 shots.

Penobscot Val. 1, Dexter 1 (2OT)

At Howland, Kyle Dewitt scored off an assist by Jered Michaud with 26:14 remaining, helping the Howlers earn a double-overtime tie against the Tigers.

Josh Ireland came up with 22 saves on 23 shots for 6-3-5 Penobscot Valley.

Jeremy Kenny scored an unassisted goal for 8-3-1 Dexter with 13:56 left in the first half. Sam Bowers made 26 saves on 27 shots.

Piscataquis 3, Bangor Christian 1

At Bangor, Joe Jardine, Dan Rockwell and Lee Wilson scored second-half goals to carry the Pirates to victory.

Jardine tied the game 1-1, scoring off a Mike Wharff assist early in the second half. Rockwell put 13-0-1 Piscataquis Community of Guilford ahead on a penalty kick goal with 33 minutes to play. Josh Luellen made four saves on 10 shots.

Ignacio Bustos scored on a Steven Blake assist for 3-8-1 Bangor Christian. Ricky Shaw made 10 saves on 16 shots.

Greenville 4, Buckfield 2

At Buckfield, Jonah Lizotte scored all four goals for Greenville to lead the Lakers to the victory.

Nathan Woodbury postec two assists and Durgin McKusick had an assist for 7-3-1 Greenville. Brandon Lavigne made 12 saves on 16 shots.

Tyler Campbell netted both goals for 5-7 Buckfield. Chris Daily and Marc Smith each provided an assist. Jeremy Stevens turned away 23 of 28 shots.

Van Buren 11, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Jeremy Chasse scored three goals to lead Van Buren past Wisdom.

Andreas Fontizerosis added two goals for the Crusaders. Trevor Hews, Jacob Doucette, Riley Lizotte, Mike Corbin, Brian Violette and Corey Vick each scored a goal. Corbin and Andrew Taylor combined to stop the only shot that they saw for 8-3-1 Van Buren.

Dustin Lugdon made 23 saves on 40 shots for 1-10 Wisdom.

John Bapst 4, Foxcroft 2

At Bangor, Alex Means assisted on three goals and Sean Snyder had a goal and an assist as John Bapst of Bangor improved to 7-5.

A.J. Stein and Sam Heathcote staked Bapst to a 2-0 lead in the first half before Josh Jameson and Snyder answered an own goal in the second half to extend the lead to 4-1.

John Hogan’s unassisted goal closed out the scoring for 1-12 Foxcroft.

Rick Hathaway had three saves for John Bapst while Ryan Edgerly made 25 stops for the Ponies.
