Belfast nets 13th straight win

BELFAST – Sam Ellis netted two goals as Belfast downed Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 4-0 in a girls soccer match to extend its winning streak to 13 games.

Emily Worth and Abi Maycock each scored a goal for 13-0 Belfast while Kate Nickerson and Audrey Jarett added assists. Bryna Harrington blocked both of the shots that she faced to post her school-record 11th shutout.

Kasey Dodge made 15 saves on 22 shots.

Erskine 4, Mount View 2

At Thorndike, goals by B.J. Dow and Christine Howard propelled the Eagles past the Mustangs.

Kara Ray and Molly Houser scored for Mount View, with assists credited to Violet Soisson and Amy Delano.

Shannon Proctor made three saves on nine stops for 9-4 Erskine of South China. Megan Rehmayer made 23 saves on 32 stops for 2-11 Mount View.

Camden Hills 5, Lincoln Acad. 0

At Rockport, Caitlin Brown scored two goals to lead the Windjammers to victory.

Carmen Forzetting, Kayla Gushee and Lexi Coleman also scored for Camden Hills, while Michaela Stone had an assist.

Gus Herron saved all three shots she faced for 10-3 Camden Hills. Abby Schling made 11 saves on 20 shots for the 0-12-1 Eagles of Newcastle.

Bucksport 0, GSA 0 (2OT)

At Blue Hill, Liz Tyler earned her 10th shutout, stopping all 13 Bucksport shots she faced for as the 7-2-3 Eagles tied the Golden Bucks.

Katie Hurd stopped all nine shots she faced for 5-7-2 Bucksport.

Ellsworth 1, MDI 0

At Mount Desert Island, Ashley Oleson scored the game-winning goal with 33 minutes left to lead Ellsworth to the win.

Victoria Jones made 10 saves on 16 shots for 3-6-4 Ellsworth.

Jessica Norwood stopped 11 of 12 attempts for 4-7-3 MDI.

JV: MDI 2-0

Nokomis 2, Old Town 0

At Newport, Rozalyn Peterson made four saves on nine shots to lead Nokomis to the shutout victory.

Aimee Paradis scored a first-half goal on an assist from Tonya Philbrook and Amy Preble scored unassisted in the second half for the 6-7-1 Warriors.

Whitney Carey made eight saves on 28 shots for 5-7-1 Old Town.

JV: Old Town 4-1

Lee Academy 3, Dexter 0

At Lee, Shelby Pickering netted all three Panda goals as undefeated Lee won its 13th game.

Ashlee Gifford contributed two assists for 13-0 Lee and Chris Rollins had one assist. Jackie Moors and Amy Lane combined to make three saves on five shots.

Lindsay Burton turned away 17 of 23 attempts for 3-8-2 Dexter.

Greenville 6, Averill 0

At Hinckley, Hannah Breton and Kristen Sutherland each scored two goals to help Greenville to the win.

Ariel Cantara scored a goal and had an assist for 12-0-1 Greenville and Kahla Lander netted a goal. Crystal Ferris had three assists and Beth Bartley had one assist. Lauren Tallam and Hannah Breton didn’t face a shot while in goal.

Kayla Beauleau stopped 23 of 35 attempts for 0-11 Averill.

Hampden 4, Brewer 1

At Hampden, Kim Stephenson scored two goals and had two assists to lead Hampden Academy past the Brewer Witches.

Jessie Aylward netted a goal and made one assist for Hampden and Johanna Ghiringehlli added a goal. Jill Beal made one assist and Jessica Porter stopped seven of eight shot for 12-2 Hampden.

Amy Freeman scored on a penalty kick in the first half for 1-12-1 Brewer and Katie Harris made 30 saves on 43 shots.

Madawaska 1, Van Buren 0

At Madawaska, Beth Gerard made a move to get past a defender and shot the ball into the corner of the net to lift the Owls to a win over the previously undefeated Crusaders.

Liz Laplante had 11 saves on 14 shots to help Madawaska go to 7-5-1.

Lisa Levasseur stopped 19 of 23 shots for Van Buren, now 10-1-1.

Boys soccer

Shead 1, Woodland 0

At Woodland, Payne Joyner scored on a penalty kick with 15 seconds left in overtime to lead Shead to the win.

Josh Francis stopped all three shots he faced for 5-4-2 Shead of Eastport.

Aaron Moody made 16 saves on 17 shots for 3-9 Woodland.

Narraguagus 0, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Harrington, goalies Josh Look of Narraguagus and Abraham Beal of Jonesport-Beals earned shutouts through two overtime periods.

Look saved all five shots he saw for the 3-9-1 Knights, while Beal stopped all 17 shots he faced for the Royals.

Dexter 6, DI-Stonington 0

At Dexter, Jeremy Kenney had two goals and an assist as the host Tigers closed out their regular season on a victorious note.

Mike Martin and Luc Marquis each added a goal and an assist, while Brandon Woodman and Ben Lemieux also had goals and Aaron Woodman and Jason Clukey chipped in with assists.

Sam Bowers made nine saves on 20 shots for 10-3-1 Dexter. Robby Haskell made 28 saves on 42 shots for 5-6-3 Deer Isle-Stonington.

GSA 6, Bucksport 0

At Bucksport, Blake Wessel scored two goals and assisted on a third to lead George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill past Bucksport.

Andrew Lymburner netted two goals as Damien Smith and Kristian Kjaergaard each scored a goal. Harrison Hines had an assist. Mark Ensworth and Collin Henry combined to make 11 saves on 14 shots for 5-5-2 GSA.

Andrew Johnson made 12 saves on 24 shots for 0-13 Bucksport.

Calvary Chapel 6, Liberty 0

At Hampden, Kyle Bradford scored two goals and had one assist to lead Calvary Chapel Christian of Orrington to its ninth win.

Brock Bradford also netted two goals for the 9-4-1 Sabers. Tim Arbo and Nate Colby each scored their first goals of the year. Andrew Lowe, Rosaire Veilleux and Stephan Gerritzen added assists. Tyler Gans stopped three of 13 shots.

Ian Riley made 13 saves on 38 shots for 0-8 Liberty of Blue Hill.

Belfast 5, MCI 1

At Pittsfield, Caleb Bamahay had a hat trick with three goals to lead Belfast past Maine Central Institute.

Ned O’Connor scored a goal and had an assist for 9-3-1 Belfast. Diego Olivares added a goal and Arron Cross had one assist. Colin Cunning stopped seven of eight shots for 9-3-1 Belfast.

Bruce Lee scored on a Mark Trombley assist in the second half for 1-11-1 MCI. Tristan Goeway made 20 saves on 27 shots.

JV: MCI 2-1

Penquis 8, Sumner 0

At Milo, the brothers Allen accounted for five goals and two assists to lead the Patriots to victory.

Senior Justin Allen led the way with three goals and an assist, while sophomore Jordan Allen had a goal and an assist and freshman Nate Allen added a goal.

Adam Ballash had two goals and an assist for 5-6-2 Penquis, while Alex Creighton scored one goal and Garrett Durant had two assists. Kevin Nason made six saves on 10 shots.

Mason Young had 18 saves on 27 shots for Sumner of East Sullivan.

Bangor Christian 3, Central 2

At Corinth, D.J. McCleary netted two goals to lead the Patriots to the victory.

Josh Griffin scored a goal and Ignacio Bustos had an assist. Ricky Shaw stopped 12 of 15 shots for 4-8-1 Bangor Christian.

Danny Kane scored both of Central’s goals and Levi Nickerson had an assist. Joey Kane and Charles Haney combined to make 14 saves on 17 shots.

Greenville 12, Averill 0

At Greenville, Jonah Lizotte scored four goals to lead Greenville to the win.

Durgin McKusick and Jimmy Gravelle each netted a pair of goals for 8-3-1 Greenville. Nathan Woodbury and Jordan Belmont each had a goal and an assist while David Whitman and Kyle Belmont each added a goal. Brandon Lavigne didn’t face a shot to record his fifth shutout.

Shawn Staples stopped 17 of 40 shots for 1-10 Averill of Hinckley.

Lee Academy 4, Katahdin 1

At Lee, Rick Kim netted two goals and had an assist to lead Lee past Katahdin of Sherman Station.

Cory Bowker and Drew Pickering each scored a goal for the Pandas while Everett Houghton and Nate Dow each had an assist. Charlie Boulrisse stopped 10 of 11 shots for 8-6 Lee.

Tyler McNally scored on a Patrick Willett assist in the first half for 2-9-2 Katahdin. Frank Grass made 14 saves on 31 shots.

Field hockey

Camden Hills 4, Lincoln Acad. 1

At Camden, Gwen Maddox scored a goal and provided one assist to help lead Camden Hills past Lincoln Academy.

Suzanne England, Julia Vandersloot and Lindsey Clement each netted a goal for the 5-8-1 Windjammers. Janessa Tyler posted an assist while Georgia Smith made 13 saves on 14 shots.

Niki Poland scored on an Emily May assist in the first half and Nicole Russell stopped 22 of 26 attempts for 1-13 Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

JV: Camden Hills 1-0

Piscataquis 1, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Kristi Levesque netted the game-winning goal 53 seconds into the second half to bring Piscataquis of Guilford up to the .500 mark.

Amy Knowlton saved the only shot she faced for 7-7 Piscataquis.

Kristen Gould made three saves on four shots for 4-7-2 Nokomis.

Brewer 2, Old Town 1

At Brewer, Lucienne Merrill scored a goal and assisted on Crystal Bennoch’s game-winner as the Witches tipped the Indians.

Bennoch scored with 13:05 left in the second period to give 3-10-1 Brewer a 2-0 lead. Jessica O’Connell assisted on Merrill’s goal and Sarah England made 10 saves on 14 shots.

Sulva Bray scored off an assist from Alissa Dow and Kitty Campbell stopped five of 10 shots for 3-11 Old Town.

Orono 1, Bangor 1 (2OT)

At Bangor, Emily Fypher scored the game-tying goal on a Maridawn Lamb assist six minutes into the second half for Orono.

Kristine Kitarge stopped 10 of 22 shots for 5-7-2 Orono.

Nicole Bureau scored an unassisted goal at 25 minutes into the game for 3-8-3 Bangor. Bonnie Case made 18 saves on 24 shots.
