AUGUSTA – A Maine State Planning Office survey finds that home heating oil prices are creeping upward this week.
The current statewide average for No. 2 heating oil is $1.28 a gallon, or 3 cents higher than last week, the planning office said. That’s 9 cents higher than at the same time last year.
Overall, the price for heating oil, along with propane and kerosene, are within their normal range.
But regional shortfalls may pose “some level of vulnerability” when it comes to pricing should there be a repeat of last year’s early, long and cold winter, the planning office said.
The average price for No. 2 heating oil ranged from a low of $1.13 per gallon to a high of $1.40 per gallon.
