DOVER-FOXCROFT – A local woman, who was a longtime proponent of the construction of the Piscataquis Regional YMCA and has held numerous offices in the organization over the years, was honored for her achievements Oct. 16.
Donna Hathaway was recognized at the annual meeting of the Piscataquis Regional YMCA directors. YMCA president David Hansen noted Hathaway’s contributions, her community involvement and the positions she has held over the years. She was named PYMCA policy volunteer for 2003, as well as the first director emeritus of the local organization.
Hansen said Hathaway provided the YMCA with inspiration and motivation, financial guidance, an appreciation for and understanding of the community, knowledge of business functions and YMCA operations, and she helped shape the local YMCA’s values. He also called her an extremely generous benefactor.
A member of the board of directors since 1986, Hathaway served two terms as president. She also held numerous other offices locally and served as president and vice president of the state YMCA.
Hathaway also is a trustee and officer at Foxcroft Academy, a member of the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council and a director of Pine Crest Development Corp.
