PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sport utility vehicle carrying 10 Plymouth State University students crashed near downtown Plymouth, killing one and injuring the others, police said.
Killed was Kelly Nester, 21, from Coventry, R.I., police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene Monday night.
The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on Route 3 south of Plymouth. It was not immediately known what caused the crash and police said no other vehicles were involved.
One of the students told her parents the vehicle slid on wet leaves and turned over before it came to rest on its side, The Laconia Citizen reported Tuesday.
The driver, Nicole Dalton, 20, of Rochester, was given a blood test but it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash, Plymouth police Capt. Steve Temperino said.
Dalton, and the other eight students, suffered various injuries and were treated and then released from Speare Memorial Hospital.
The other students are: Shannon McNally, 20, Litchfield; Jamie Plichta, 18, Bedford; Valerie Levine, 18, Nashua; Nicole Little, 22, Londonderry; Angela Bergeron, 21, Hooksett; Olivia Lucca, 22, Manchester, Maine; Brittany Hilton, 18, North Berwick, Maine; and Heather Haigh, 21, Ridgefield, Conn.
