A Bangor woman reported to police Saturday that her ex-boyfriend threatened to kill her again.
Since she split with Edwin Hurd, 49, he’s kept trying to get back into her apartment, even going as far as to sleep in the laundry room of her apartment building, she said.
She also told Bangor police Officer Douglas Moore that Hurd has told her he knew people in Massachusetts who could take care of her and he even had another woman call her and scream profanities at her.
An hour before the police arrived, the woman said, Hurd threatened her, telling her on her speaker phone that he would kill her one way or another. This was heard by a relative, who confirmed it to the police, according to the report.
Hurd was located walking on State Street in Brewer a short time later and arrested, charged with terrorizing and violation of conditions of release.
Orono police were called to Eastern Maine Medical Center at 3 a.m. Sunday for a report of a stabbing.
Once there, the stabbing victim told Orono police Officer Robert Sinclair little more than the obvious: He had been stabbed. He also reported that while it happened in Orono, it didn’t happen on the University of Maine campus, where apparently he is a student.
Officer Will Sheehan said the man had stab wounds on both shoulders, one requiring six stitches, the other requiring eight. Sheehan said Sunday afternoon that the investigation into the matter is continuing.
A Millinocket motorist who admitted to driving off Friday after striking an SUV on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor denied being intoxicated but claimed she had a drink at a home after the accident.
Halloween evening, a Stockton Springs man said a woman in a green Ford Ranger pickup truck made an illegal left turn onto Stillwater Avenue, striking the driver side door of his Chevrolet Blazer. The pickup, driven by Susan Bailey, 46, of Millinocket, sped off and the driver of the damaged Blazer pursued, according to the police report.
They stopped at a gas station, where the Stockton Springs man planned to confront the other driver, but she sped off instead and headed to Brewer, pulling up to a home on Union Street and getting out, reported Bangor police Officer William Lawrence.
During the pursuit, the Blazer’s driver was in contact with police and a Brewer officer arrived on Union Street about two minutes after Bailey had gotten out of the truck and walked into the home, Lawrence said.
Bailey claimed she had a drink of vodka inside the house before police arrived, but according to Lawrence, an Intoxilyzer test registered her blood alcohol content at 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Bailey was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.
