HAMPDEN — On Friday, Dec. 5, at 3:30 p.m. at Graves’ Supermarket in Hampden, First Lady Karen Baldacci and Agriculture Commissioner Robert Spear will join Dave Cheney of Cheney Farms in Castle Hill, Cathe Morrell of the State of Maine Cheese Co., Nancy Raye of Raye’s Mustard in Eastport, other Maine food producers, and representatives from Graves’ Supermarkets, to officially launch Graves’ increased efforts to promote locally grown, raised and harvested foods and other Maine products in their five-store, Maine-owned chain.
In addition to labeling all Maine grown, raised, harvested and processed foods in their stores using the “get real. get maine!” identification, each of Graves’ stores will invite Maine producers to sample their products to customers, and Graves’ will feature monthly farmer and food producer profiles on their stores.
Graves’ Supermarkets are also located in Bar Harbor, Camden, Dover-Foxcroft and Presque Isle.
Gov. John E. Baldacci commended Graves’ Supermarkets for making full use of the state-sponsored “get real. get maine!” identification program for Maine products.
