Bucks rally past JB Joey Carmichael single decides it

BUCKSPORT – Joey Carmichael’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth gave Bucksport a 4-3 baseball victory over John Bapst of Bangor Tuesday.

Tom Carey singled home a run in the top of the ninth to give John Bapst a 3-2 lead.

Chris Maguire singled and Nye Gifford walked in the bottom of the inning before Robbie Pushard singled home the tying run. After Joe Robichaud was hit by a pitch, Carmichael singled up the middle.

Carmichael finished with a double and single, while Pushard had two singles and two RBIs, Maguire singled twice and Gifford doubled.

Cody Andrews paced John Bapst with a home run and a single.

The game also featured a pitching duel between Gifford and John Bapst’s Mike Tardiff. Gifford pitched eight innings, while Tardiff worked into the ninth.

At Rockland, John Coppola hit three singles and knocked in two runs to lead Rockland to victory.

Ben Baudanza-Sturks, Dominic Morrill, and Steve McGuire each doubled and had an RBI for Rockland and Mike Marsh also doubled.

Adam Maguire had a double and two singles to deliver two runs for Mount View of Thorndike. Mike Light and John Wentworth both had a single with two RBIs.

At Mount Desert Island, Dan Lyons doubled and singled and drove in three runs and help lead Mount Desert Island to the win.

Sam Merrill hit a two-run double for the Trojans and Marcus Maffuci had two singles and an RBI.

Ian Lee hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Hampden Academy. Billy Shannon hit two singles and Chris Pease had an RBI single in the third inning.

At Corinth, Jordan Burleigh hit a two-run single in the third inning to help lead Stearns of Millinocket to the win.

Ryan Bouchard went the distance for the win, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out six and walking one.

Ryan Beaulieu doubled and scored a run for the Minutemen.

Colby Brown hit a two-run single in the sixth inning for Central and Mike Julian added a double and a single.

At Old Town, Brian Hackett spaced four singles over six innings, striking out 10 and not walking anybody, and Eric Anderson gave him the only run support he would need with a two-run homer in the first inning.

Anderson also had an RBI single while Hackett helped his own cause with a double and a single.

Jessefa Murphy had a two-run double and Anthony DeRosa contributed a two-run single.

Jarrett Lukas, Dave Chilleli, Chris Brewer and Josh Marcho had the singles for Old Town.

At Husson College in Bangor, Josh Pelletier tripled and singled to drive in three runs and help lead Foxcroft Academy to the win.

Matt Carey hit a triple and a single and scored three runs for the Ponies and Caleb Pelletier doubled and singled with an RBI.

Dusty Thomas had two singles with an RBI for Orono and Max Winter singled twice.

At Brewer, Kevin McAvoy knocked in three runs with a triple, double and single to pilot the Witches.

Matt Grimes singled and doubled for another two RBIs. Ricky Adams had two singles and an RBI and Brandon Hardy had a double and two RBI.

Dylan Carroll and Josh White each had an RBI single for the Warriors.

At Mount Desert, Erika Veinote held the Trojans to two hits, striking out eight and walking one as the Broncos posted the victory.

Veinote also doubled and singled to drive in the first run of the game. Jenna Shue added two more singles, while Eva Shannon doubled and scored a run for Hampden.

Lynne Bowden and Stephanie Shuster had one single apiece for MDI.

At Ellsworth, Catie Cravens pitched a one-hitter and Emily Miller scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Eagles.

Miller reached on a bunt single, stole second base and came around to score on Maggie Seavey’s infield hit.

Seavey had two singles for Ellsworth.

Cravens struck out 12 and walked just two. She allowed just a fourth-inning single to Mycah Cyr.

Ashley Kelley pitched a five-hitter for Hermon with 11 strikeouts and one walk.

At Jonesport, the Blue Devils took advantage of two Royalette errors to score five runs in the fifth inning and take the lead for good.

Darcey Gillespie paced Calais with a solo homer in the sixth, a double, a single, and three RBIs. Chrissy Driscoll added two singles and two RBIs, and Emily Wilkinson rapped a pair of singles.

Kristi Smith and Renee Jordan led the Royalettes with an RBI single each.

At Rockland, Alexandra Todd’s three-run double in the fifth put the Tigers comfortably ahead of the Mustangs of Thorndike.

Todd finished with two doubles and four RBIs, Dana Clark posted a double, two singles, and four RBIs, and winning pitcher Caitlin Hynes added a pair of singles.

Kristy Clements had a single and an RBI for the Mustangs.

At Bucksport, Tarren Hall singled three times, doubled twice and drove in three runs as the Golden Bucks won.

Katie Hurd singled twice for 3 RBI. Kristy Allen also singled twice for two RBI.

Gwen Wadleigh had two singles and three RBI for the Crusaders. Megan Brown had a double.

Orono scored the winning run in the ninth on a hit batter, two walks and a wild pitch.

Sarah Anderson tripled and Christina Weymouth doubled for Foxcroft Academy.

At Corinth, Casey Freeman hit a two-run homer to highlight a five-run fifth-inning rally that propelled Stearns of Millinocket to victory.

Freeman finished with a home run and a single. Deanna Michaud and Holly Franck each tripled and singled for the Minutemen.

Chantel Randall had an RBI double for Central, while Lindsay Mitchell also doubled.
